nutter my dad was a polaris dealer from 72 to 74 in newburgh ny 1 was 8 in 74 we had a 74 colt 250 twin with a 72 335 top end and carbs it was a fast sled for us at the time we also had a 250 single colt and rode the piss out of that thing. we would call our dad every day at lunch and ask him to bring 5 gallons of gas when he came home . the best memmories thank you for keeping them alive with all your builds etc

So I'm contemplating the cost and how to complete my project. If I buy beer in bulk, leave a trail of them every 15 feet or so from you house to mine, what would be the cost? At my house would be my Polaris touring 2up sitting outside under a big tree branch, neglected, and needing tons of maintenance (just the carbs cleaned). Pay no attention to the "Cage like" object hanging from the branch...

A trail of hundred dollar bills would work a lot better than a trail of beers LOL. Good Wile E Coyote trap though LOL.

do you have a show that you rebuild a master cylinder on a vintage polaris around 1997 xc 700?

Yes, I have done a couple rebuilds. I think the Walnuts series had one somewhere.

Always an informative video on your channel, enjoy every bit of it including watching the puppies play in the background ! Boy I'd like to be the fly on the wall when you are working on a big project ! And be nice to ask the Polaris crew there some Polaris sled relevant questions in person ! Thanks for the excellent videos ! Clean the carbs !😅😅😅

Good info Nutter! It’s always important to build a sled for the class you want to run in 👍. I’ve heard many people get all these great ideas to hop something up, forgetting it will bump them up in classes, so really no point to it lol Cheers 🍻

Does the 250 from the Star make any more power?
@nuttersspeedshop
@nuttersspeedshop 8 ай бұрын
I don't think so. I have a star cylinder somewhere but couldn't find it for the video. My recollection is that it is much more like the Colt cylinder than the Indy trail. A quick look in the Polaris parts list illustrations confirms this.

One gotcha for anybody thinking about putting a "indy trail" cylinder on there is that the rod on the colt uses thrust washers on the wrist pin and the trail uses them down on the big end. I have not tried to put an indy trail piston on a colt rod but I'm guessing it would be a relatively easy milling operation to modify the piston to accept the the thrust washers on the wrist pin. I may have done that with an ATV piston which has identical dimensions to a colt but a larger bore (oversized pistons are legal).

Good comment Andy. I've done that machine work and I forgot to mention it in the video. It's pretty easy if you have a mill.

Another nice thing about the little 244 that probably isn't appreciated is how beefy the bottom end is. Doubled up 6206's on the pto side and a steel rod, the bottom end on the 244 is beefier than my 290ss, arguably more stout than a 340ss or a 194R.

I know the Sachs single cyls has aluminum rods and bushings instead of needle bearings, but they still seem to hold up well. I've never been inside the 194R.
