Cant believe you made it this long on polaris clutches. We have a group of 6 sxs, 4 are polaris. ALL of them have had clutch issues. It sux waiting for them on trail all the time. Love your videos. Cant wait for next adventure

Our 2011 Ranger went over then years not only on one clutch, but on one belt!!!! I don’t know… 🤷♂️ I heard it was not uncommon to have to do clutch work between 4000-6000 miles, and I’ve heard people needing them sooner than that 🫤
@aznixx9 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. Everyone I know with Rangers and Generals have clutch issues and often completely replace them. The Rzr doesn’t seem to have as many issues from those I know with one.

5k and a fully loaded rig. Cmon bud. Most failures are due to owners not understanding they need to blow out and clean and use LOW GEAR when possible.

It seems every time I find me a new awesome you tube channel to watch with tent camping and side by side riding you got to wait for months before a new video is posted. We love your videos.

I have been waiting (patiently 😁) for a 'follow up' to the duraclutch installation. Are you still satisfied with the new clutch? Is it lots better, as in smoother engagement ? Miss your videos, and looking forward to your next adventure.

Aw man. I know… 😔 we’ve barely been out this year and haven’t done a trip. Hoping to get a short one in in Sept. that said, we’ve used the machine for work around the property, used it all winter for plowing, and a few rides. So far it’s great. I do really want to use it on an out west trip but I don’t think that’s gonna happen until next year.

Was there a reason you didn’t go with gilomen innovations?
@TheNorthwoodsFamily9 ай бұрын
No reason other than we already have a relationship with RMATVMC and it was the easiest route to get a replacement clutch quickly. I’ve heard good things about Gilomen… they have some great informational videos. Perhaps in the future - I’m curious if they’d have a better way to tune things based on the kind of travel we do?
@ColoradoGunfighter9 ай бұрын
@@TheNorthwoodsFamily sounds good. I have a general as well and am at the point where in need to clutch and tune. We’re running the HCR long travel, 33” tires, 5 seat conversion, bed rack and full size spare. Giloman is who I was going to use. We run high and low elevations. I was going to have two computers with different tuning and swap them out. We use our general very similar to your family with annual trips through the Rockies. This year we’re doing the pass out of Silverton. Gilomen is close to you guys so I thought maybe I was not aware of something. Thanks

Why was your secondary spinning at idle with the new clutch?
@TheNorthwoodsFamily9 ай бұрын
I noticed this too…. I’m not an expert, so open to anything people have to add. I believe it’s an alignment issue between the two clutches. I’m told it’s not a big deal so long as it’s not difficult to shift. Some of them spin a little bit it should be a lot slower than the primary. I think I can fix this with a shim kit, which I probably will buy. If nothing else I’d have to think better alignment would improve belt life… but I gotta do some more reading.
@mikes20209 ай бұрын
@@TheNorthwoodsFamily One of the resources I've used is Hunterworks. They have a bunch of KZbin videos and specifically on clutch alignment. I'd even suggest giving them a call and explain your situation as they may have a qualified answer to the problem. I believe the secondary should be completely disenganged at idle and anything more than that seems like it could create an issue. Love your videos and watch many of them as they come out. BTW, I'm in Tomahawk and have beeen on some of the trails that you and your family have visited up here. Please keep us posted on your findings.

Nice informative video. I'm right around the same millage on the Can-Am. No funny noises yet but I will consider the same kit when its time. Totally random side note. I've been in the market for a decent folding knife for an EDC. Been considering a Kershaw Leek. The one you opened the clutch boxes with looks pretty stout. What is your go to pocket knife?
@TheNorthwoodsFamily9 ай бұрын
Very cool and thanks!!! I have a few Kershaws Blurs and something similar they made for Vortex Optics I got when I worked there. They’re good quality but I’m not afraid to break em or lose em. I have a bench made folder I really like too as well as a SpiderCo with a stainless serrated blade I bought to have something on me when I’m on the beach. I appreciate a nice knife but I can’t justify $400 on a pocket knife unless I’m actually going to seriously train with it for self defense.

Did this Duraclutch get rid of that Terrible Snap and jerk you sometimes get on takeoff. I am about fed up with Polaris clutches....

Yep. Take off is very smooth now, not at all jerky.

@@TheNorthwoodsFamily Thanks... I still have to do a little research. I have changed the weights in mine to get the RPM down to a reasonable level. If this would be compatable with the duraclutch I would have to find out. Thing is a have a Polaris 850 touring with over 11,000 miles and finally changed the belt just because. It was still like new. Everything in there still looked like new. This 900 RZR is the first Polaris I ever felt the need to do anything with the stock clutching... I named this one the Money Pit...🥵
@TheNorthwoodsFamily7 ай бұрын
That’s a bummer. Our 2012 Ranger 800 went ten years on the factory belt. I finally replaced it for the same reason but it looked like new. When I sold it I gave it to the new owner as a spare. Our General has gone through several belts - granted we drove it a lot differently 😆
