I have the same machine and I find the temp gets close to overheating on packed roads and only cools down in the loose stuff ? Anyone else have that problem .?
@AffirmedPie4 жыл бұрын
@@peeinginthewind is it liquid cooled? If so there is a radiator by your track that will use loose snow to cool down the coolant for your motor

I just got my first snowmobile, haven't even ridden before. It's a 98 polaris indy 500 efi liquid. Dying to ride

Have you ridden it yet

@@MaxCaissie Yes, a couple times, once most of the day, but waiting for a little more snow to go again.It runs fantastic, just put some premium in it, and i was off. Nothing mechanical really, took the skis off and sanded and painted them. Carbides were good, brand new belt under the hood, and plugs, tool kit/coil. Got her for $800, only damage is a tiny slice in the seat, no fabric missing.

@@MaxCaissie i wish you the best of luck in getting a good deal, and safe riding. It can be a blast. Im extremely excited for a little extra snow to play with. Also, it's definitely quick enough for me. I'm maybe 170, 178, it does just fine with me on it. I suppose the only thing between the smaller sleds and larger is how fast you get up to speed, mine keeps up great, but i don't think ill be lifting up the front unless I'm in deeper snow.

Not going to tear you down...too much Looking like you haven't been riding for very long, a fuji powered 500 Indy usually loves these conditions. A little practice and you will be having a good time and not getting stuck as you did here. Smooth out your throttle inputs and keep more momentum, if your under 10 mph in fresh powder with a short track you're screwed. If you need to stop, pack down an area with a couple loops first. Keep the speed up, be smooth, and that sled will go almost anywhere.

DontOpenMySnacks they are a very good sled, I've owned 3 500s over the years. In my area it's pretty common to get one for $500.

the wedge style tops all IMO. had my 1 sled. 93 Indy classic 500, haven't put many miles but its went thru a lot of memories. only threw a chaincase in, and I'm just now doing plugs. filter, and its 2nd carb clean.
