Take a small drill bit drill a little hole on each side of the ring. Use snap ring pliers pinch it so it will make it smaller set it in place and release it puts it right in the ring the seat it. Make sure the seat is nice and clean. I’ll even take a little dremel and wire wheel and clean it real well

Thanks, great video, one question, do you have to align the inner and outer cv joints? Miner is making a awkward noise after cleaning and greasing it again, there was no noticeable damage to the cv surfaces or ball bearings, any ideas?
@wickedalracing4 жыл бұрын
Sorry about the late response, just noticed your question. Not that I'm going to be any help. I'm not sure what you mean by aligning the joints. Whenever I replaced them, I paid no attention to what splines are sockets parts went into. No issues. Rule for me, if there is noise, replace the parts. You may not see it, but there is noise for a reason.

What are your thoughts on the top smaller bolt of the rear spindle with the two bushing? I have replaced the two bushing twice now and after I grease the tip it feels tight but once I ride a few hours it seems to have a little play again. I hope you understand what part I’m talking about just looking for some answers. Thanks Matthew

I have a 2008 Polaris Outlaw 525 IRS. My rear end started clicking and popping when I turn right and go in reverse to the right. I just replaced the rear bearings on both sides. I took it for a little ride around my place and it is still making that noise. Do you have any idea why it is doing that or what I need to replace so it quits? Thanks for the help!
@wickedalracing8 жыл бұрын
+Austin Grafton It's not the bearings, but the CV joints. Depending on your budget, I always recommend replacing the entire axle, but if that's not in the cards, just replace the offending CV...all parts of the CV. I ran for quite a bit of time with clicking CV's, but that is a signal they are worn and will eventually fail.

+wickedalracing Alright thank you for the help. I ordered all the stuff for the rear end and hopefully will be putting it back together this weekend. I appreciate it thank you!

I have a 2006 Polaris Outlaw 500. I’ve been trying to fix a clicking noise in the rear end that has now turned into a clunking, popping, and binding noise when moving the quad. It won’t do it when it’s jacked up in the air. I’ve replaced both wheel bearings, outer CV joints/boots, and the main carrier bearings in the center hub. However, the noise is still there. I’m wondering if I need to replace the inner CV joints or the center hub itself. I also know you can get the entire rear assembly for around $600, but replacing only the inner CV joints is much cheaper. There doesn’t seem to be any unusual play with either of the axles inside the center hub either. I’m wondering if you think replacing the inner CV joints would fix the popping problem, as you seem extremely familiar with these Outlaws. Thanks!

+Jordon Kramer Hi Jordan, I took the carrier apart once, I seem to recall a large ring had to be removed and the one side was threaded onto the other. Unfortunately I recently sold all of my Outlaw parts to focus now on SxS racing so I can't reference anything. Good luck!

Cant get the long side out because the tool is no help and it wont just hammer out. Any help on what I'm missing?

Cdn Glenwood I got an opportunity to design long travel kits for a SxS manufacturer and also race them, my Outlaw is getting sold too. I'm keeping the Wraith for fun and occasional races, but the Outlaw days are over, so sad, was a lot of fun. Now I get to decide what parts I want to keep to fab up new ideas and what just needs to go out the door. Good luck with your new direction!

Hey buddy, im just like you, love my irs's, got two 525 irs and one 450 mxr. My inner cv joint are due for replacement on my race quad, so were do you get your aftermarket race, cage and ball bearings? Polaris dont sell oem kits, and what brand worked the best for you? Would really appreciate your knowledge on that one!!! Thx brother!
@alexkollitz20329 жыл бұрын
If your CVs are going bad, the best thing to do is to replace the entire rear axle assembly, it's less expensive than doing it piecemeal. Go to Partzilla and add this part number to your cart, www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Polaris/ATV/2007/A07GP52AA-AB+OUTLAW+525/GEARCASE,+REAR/parts.html don't be shocked by the price, check the price in your cart and it will be less than half of what it shows on the main page. This goes from splined shaft to splined shaft including the axle halfs, CVs, rubber boots, center bearing carrier. Much less expensive then getting individual parts.

Where can i buy just the inner cv bearings not the entire thing cant find them for separate sale or is that a dumb idea but my inner race and cage dont look all that worn but there is some play in my bearings and it started clicking recently.
@alexkollitz20329 жыл бұрын
SethKelley92 I get my oem parts from Partzilla.com, they seem to have the best prices. Make sure to add the item to your cart to get the true price and see if is less expensive to buy the whole thing rather than the pieces.
@SethKelley929 жыл бұрын
thanks man but i still cant find the bearings i just need the bearings not the whole inner cv joint just the bearings
@alexkollitz20329 жыл бұрын
SethKelley92 Then google is your friend. You will need to measure the stock ones as the dimensions will need to be precise, you will also need to know what type of steel is used to get the same or better performance. If the balls themselves are worn, chances are the inner and outer races are also worn and also need to be replaced. If you simply lost a ball and need it replaced, then you can probably find one assuming the size is standard. Good luck!

Does anyone have any ideas how to widen this rear end? I bought a 525 Outlaw frame with front and rear suspension and want to cut it apart and use the suspension points on a 2 seater mini sand rail buggy. Can anyone give some ideas on how wide this needs to be for stability and if I need to widen this suspension for the setup?
@wickedalracing4 жыл бұрын
I hope your project has been coming along fine. If you want to widen it, look for other Polaris axles that fit the same spline pattern and then build arms for that length. Of course that allows you to set up shocks anywhere you want. If you don't want to get into a lot of engineering, stay stock.
