Basically the light is reflected off the water but the polarized effect from the glasses reflects the light right back and you can see so much clearer

This isn't true. Reflections scatter light into many planes. Polarizer filter only let's through light in one plane. Hence reflection glare is minimized. Not excluded, as there will be some light in the plane of the Polarizer filter. Incidentally, Polarizer lenses great for outdoors and altitude. If you are in a more urban environment the plane of the Polarizer can be against the plane of LCD screens. This will blacken out those screens to your eyes.

Noob question. Im new to sunglasses and someone bought me a gift of oakley prizm flak 2.0. I accidentally cleaned my glasses with alcohol ONCE not knowing that it will damage the coating. Will it damage the longevity of coating? And how do you properly maintain sunglasses?

For those asking - These are the Costa SaltySeamen with CD500 lenses. The CumDump500 lenses are used by 8/10 professional fisherman as of 2022 so they must be good. I love mine.

Not just Polaroids ….but decent ones lol…there’s Polaroids …cheap servo ones that will do something ….like maybe see very surface stuff (if it’s very sunny) but then there’s spotters …they are next lvl and will allow you to see deep in water fairly clearly…..and see we’ll even in low light

It’s physics, light from sky isn’t polarized but when it reflects from any surface like this water, it becomes polarized. As shown here the light is polarized horizontally so you need a vertical polarized glasses to block them while you can see the bright sky as it isn’t polarized

Remember guys you only need polarized sunglasses when exposed to high reflective environments like snow, water, rain puddles, shiny objects, ex. Not for everyday use. Unless it's part of your job.

I fish the trinity river a lot in Texas which is quite muddy so I would recommend getting them just for the looks, and they also take the reflection off the surface of the water which is easier on your eyes… I would recommend this product.

This works because when light bounces off something it becomes polarised, ie when it bounces off something flat on the floor the light waves reflecting are wiggling up and down, so all you do is you filter out the up and down light waves too see the left and right (from normal reflection under the surface of the water)

For sure, also for mountain biking and snowboarding polarized lens are not recommended because of depth perception. But for driving, being near water and casual activities polarized lens are life changing
