You can see Björk holding tears. Robyn did her proud with this heartfelt delivery of the song. And I also think she's a perfect match to the emotional content of Hyperballad - this kind of explosive, dancy leaps of emotions here and there, matched with some northern twist in it (imagining yourself dead so you can feel happier for being alive, I can't imagine something more northern than that).

Björk's music is incredibly difficult to recreate or emulate. But Robyn approaches her artistry in much the same way and it takes this kind of consummate musician to adequately honor Björk's beautiful textures. You certainly don't see many performers in the mainstream attempt to cover Björk because her creations are rather intricate and require a degree of spontaneity that some artists just aren't capable of. I'd argue that your review of this is grounded in the passionate nature of a Robyn fan. I've listened to, and enjoyed, Bjork covers, and given that I've only listened to a handful of her songs, I'd hardly say I'm a fanatic. But Robyn's cover just didn't hit in any of the same ways Bjork did, it feels improperly delivered and as though the lyrics & her emotions aren't matched. They focus in music as an art form and not in record sales, they don't care to be mainstream and they don't look at music as a way to show their body parts so men can drool over them and women would want to be like them, they don't have to try hard (like Gaga) to be different and weird, they just dare to be be their true selves.

We live on a mountain Right at the top There's a beautiful view From the top of the mountain Every morning I walk towards the edge And throw little things off Like car parts, bottles and cutlery Or whatever I find lying around It's become a habit A way To start the day I go through all this Before you wake up So I can feel happier To be safe up here with you I go through all this Before you wake up So I can feel happier To be safe up here with you It's early morning No-one is awake I'm back at my cliff Still throwing things off I listen to the sounds they make On their way down I follow with my eyes till they crash I imagine what my body would sound like Slamming against those rocks And when it lands Will my eyes Be closed or open? I go through all this Before you wake up So I can feel happier To be safe up here with you I go through all this Before you wake up So I can feel happier To be safe up here with you I go through all this Before you wake up So I can feel happier To be safe up here with you Safe up here with u

I can't believe I've not heard this version till now. A beautiful but heartbreaking song. The original by Björk and Robyn's version are breathtaking. Simply magical.

Well done Robyn. Ignore every single one of these comments from all these professional musicians on here. Apparently they all know Bjork! Anyway, well done on a fantastic cover.

I’ve enjoyed this video for years and was always irritated by the negative comments. It’s nice to see that overtime people have come to enjoy Robyn’s interpretation of Bjork’s incredible ballad. Yes this is a tribute and not a clone performance. Robin is an artist in her own right and her clear admiration for Björk is a testament to her own artistry and musicianship. Kudos to the orchestra for arranging a symphonic version of this classic techno dance hit.

Never heard of Robyn before this video, but came here because I love Bjork. But since I'm straight, can I still be a fan?

Robyn absolutely brought the emotional core to this cover and in some measure both honours and transcends the original. What a marriage and the honour in Bjork's face says it all
