I agree 100%. I used to purchase my film from target, Best Buy or wherever I could find it. Had a couple of packs that legit were crap. I ended up calling Polaroid and asking what is up with their product and their film is $15 a box and I got a box that didn’t develop at all. From that point on I started ordering straight from Polaroid and I have not had a single problem since.

I have always got stuff from Polaroid. Never had any issues with the film, except when i had left it unused for some months and they did not come out well. I also feel that the new film is definitely better than the once they were producing back in 2018/19

@SweetLouPhotography4 жыл бұрын
Cool Jesus!! I actually made a vid about better Polaroids (kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYKooXqbnMyaY9U) The only thing I would add is based on my current experience with the 2020 formula (it seems like we are on a new, more stable chemistry) you should order from Polaroid, as I've had the best results going straight through them. I also think you should try to shoot the film as soon as possible- I think the longer it sits in your fridge, the more likely it will be to not develop properly. Or, did you mean composition stuff? Like not the performance of the film but rather creative ideas for the film itself?
@laika36604 жыл бұрын
@@SweetLouPhotography I watched that video, it was very informative! But yes, a bit more about the creative uses of the film. Maybe how to take great double exposures, what you could do with long exposures, or just even how to take better overall photos when shooting with an instant camera vs a digital.

You need to understand that impossible / Polaroid film has been on a straight uphill Journey since it was first released. Every single pack you buy will be better than the last. Also, when you buy from the store, not only are the earlier versions, but they could be sitting there for who-knows-how-long. Always always always check the date. When you bought it does not matter only the use-by/born on date

I hate how we have to qualify any criticism we give Polaroid film. I've had VERY much the same issues you've had and more. I'm still curious how long it took for your film to develop - they're advertising 15 minutes atm, but when I shot it last year it was closer to 30. That alone holds up any portrait session - since you can't check your exposure or see what to expect in future shots. I LOVE this camera for long exposures, though.
@SweetLouPhotography4 жыл бұрын
Ah crap. I completely forgot to mention that in the vid. Thanks for bringing this up!! In my experience, photos can take 20 to 30 minutes to fully develop. It varies based on temperature I believe.

Thanks much, glad you dig what I'm doing here-- in my experience, the film seems to perform the best when you buy it from Polaroid, and use it fairly quickly (don't let it sit in the fridge for mad long, you know?) Sorry, but I will write here what I truly think: I don't like the process the camera took from the very first i-Type camera until now because I don't see much except autofocus and a missing tripod adapter. I won't buy a new camera until they give me something mind blowing. Like a slr version or really insane good lenses or whatever. And you're right about the films. They're disappointing in that way though I like the colors more than the instax films colors.

I bought a Impossible I1 on eBay for 30€ and thought that I got a nice deal. The camera arrived and I noticed that the viewfinder was missing. Because I’m stupid and impatient I bought the only one in the entire internet. The thing was pretty cheap but it came from the USA and I had to pay 20€ import tax... Once it arrived I took it on a photography trip with a friend. The first film I put through was leaking and because of that my camera is now full of developer stains. All the pictures I took were fully black, accept one that I accidentally took at a gas station, because the on/off button didn’t work. The second film also turned out shit, everything was overexposed. I can’t even use the Bluetooth feature and I need to charge this piece of shit before every use because the battery is shit. Thought I am the only one with these problems but pretty mouth everyone has these. Anyway nice video.

I can tell what went wrong right away: you need to heat the film during development. And i mean: HEAT IT. Putting it in your jeans pocket is not enough, under your armpit is the best place
