My rule is if the weather is unpredictable then I grab the instax lol. Polaroids are fun but for $2/shot I’m not wasting it 😂

Its a toss up for me, They both have merits

Living in Minnesota, if I'm staying near my car, I put the exposed film in front of the heat vent. Instax gains contrast by being heated, and uses color when kept cold. Polaroid is a lot more sensitive to temperature. Hand warmers are your friend.

I don't understand why Fuji does not sell a camera like the SX-70 for the Instax Wide. There is the Mint rangefinder but it is not an SLR.
@JustAnotherChris3 жыл бұрын
Agreed and that camera is $$$$

I think the (cold) Polaroid selfie actually worked really well. The sign definitely went to Fuji in colour but you lose bits like the rust streak you can see in the Polaroid.

Fun fact it wasn’t the same dead end sign I took the picture of the wrong one 😂

@@JustAnotherChris ahhh 😂 well then I retract that point. Still amazes me at how Fuji have managed to make such a colour rich film.

I ended up buying a Fujifilm instax sq6. I'm still trying to get the hang of it.

I’ve recently got a SQ6 and I’ve been put it against my Polaroid Now. Gotta say I’m surprised with the results, both do well where the other doesn’t, so I just carry one of each 😅
@JustAnotherChris3 жыл бұрын
Lol that’s my problem I carry like 3 cameras at once because one does something each doesn’t 😆

@@JustAnotherChris once I finally get the flash for my SX70 I probably won’t use the ‘Now’ so much and go on the shelf with all the others.

I kinda like how cold and hot weather give Polaroid a cold and hot feel. But Instax deserves credit for its robustness and good image quality.
@brineb583 жыл бұрын
I think the Fuji film has a greater temperature latitude ... I found that the Polaroid film also need way more light to have success ... both are fun and I use both!!!
@JustAnotherChris3 жыл бұрын
Agreed! But that might be because polaroid is ASA 640 and Fuji is ASA800

A bit late, but I was out yesterday shooting some polaroid i-type film at around 3 degrees C, they took a long time to develop and started to develop a blue hue. (very unsafe and results will prob vary) And I hoverd them over an electric radiator set at 35 degrees C for 10-15 sec. Got rid of the blue hue and they turned out like if they were shot at 20 degrees C, no pink or blue hues.

hey i was wondering if you remember what temperature it was outside when you did this? I recently got a instax wide 300 for christmas and where I live it's often quite cold in the winter, reaching -40 or colder on some days.
@JustAnotherChris3 жыл бұрын
Ohhhh yeah that’s COLD!!!! It was definitely not that cold. Maybe in the 20’s°F. Your going to have to let me know how if your photos work in that weather.
@conflictinmybrain20193 жыл бұрын
@@JustAnotherChris took a pretty good photo today in 0F / -18C, and I would say thats the edge of too cold for instax film. It has these weird yellow crystal formations on the bottom. Thats the only problem though, and it's quite minor so it's still a very good photo!

It is all a matter of taste. But I revel in not perfect photos. I am an artist and I guess I use the same eye with photos. Initially I liked Instax photos. They are clearer and have more contrast. But when you put Instax photos next to Polaroid they almost seem like cheap digital prints. Again if people like Instax then great. But I never feel instant photo feelings with Instax, the nostalgia or vibe don't fit for me.

idk why, but the fuji is "too good" and too vivid. like hummmm a real printed picture lol the polaroid is just so special and fun and beautiful and so retro and iconic looking. By the way, is it just me or the fuji looks less sharp?

Man I really want something in this size film in a compact body to compliment my digital camera. A mint sx70 would be fantastic but for my needs personally Polaroid film is terrible for Florida outside all day. And not realistic to carry a cooler when you are traveling minimalism. And Fuji has fantastic film but the camera is a brick!

The new Polaroid pictures fade in two years. My Polaroid impossible Black & White pictures yellowed and the beauty is gone. Not worth it!

Key word there “ impossible” they have come a long way since they were called the impossible project. film doesn’t fade like they once did.

@@JustAnotherChris I hope so because the film I had bought was 2 years ago. So I hope they have fixed it since then. Maybe you can make a video on the subject one day. Would be nice to have an interview with a representative from Polaroid.

The Polaroid looks like crap. Instax looks better in damned near every condition. I’m always amazed how people let nostalgia for Polaroid skew their judgement. Instax is clearly a superior product.
