Test drove the sport model a few weeks ago and it's an amazing car. The Polestar 4 was in the showroom also, going to wait to test drive the Polestar 4 before making a decision.

Lidar is standard on EX90, not an option like P3. P3 lidar option not available for delivery till late 2025.

Do you know if EX90 launches with Lidar equipped? I vaguely remember an article that said EX90 won't be shipped with Lidar but with higher MSRP than original announced price

@@MistSoalar Yes EX90 will have Lidar standard at launch. But it will not totally function till a later date due to software compatibility issues.

Interestingly, this car has been on sale for a long time in Europe and even now USA media and some others have still not had press cars given to them to review them! Also, the car was on sale in Europe before the European media had a chance to drive them - the only people I know that had media drives/reviews before they went on sale were the Australians and New Zeland media outlets

Hmm. If Lidar is a "safety feature," then it should be included for free. What's next? Are automakers going to start charging extra for seat belts? childseat anchors? air bags? 3rd brake lights?

Geely needs to roll Polestar back under Volvo as a Performance line similar to AMG. It was separated in the hope to imitate Tesla back in the glory days become a stock market darling. But that was then, and those days are gone. Polestar needs a dealer service network (there are many states and regions with NO service). That would hugely encourage people to buy these models.

Polestar 3 gives you Porsche level driving experience for a bargain. It is a Swedish company, despite what others tell you.

This is true. I have been driving the P2 for the past 3 years and will get my P3 in a few weeks. Did a test drive and it is def porsche level and it’s worth the money for sure. Most people commenting here have no idea (yet)

@@charlyfriedrichs6770 I have also the P2, >90000 km now, rock solid and fun drivers car, which is also practical enough for me. The Polestar 3 just goes way beyond that experience, just sad I dont have money for it. I think Polestar 4 is what I will buy next

I like both Volvo and Polestar however, I believe both are pricing their EVs too high. Volvo has been having some issue since the XC90 launched and Polestar press launch cars were still buggy. Folks will buy based on love of the brand but, will become annoyed if they have to experience quality and software issues out of the gate. For a sport oriented brand, the LR RWD version should have come with around 300 HP/TQ, I figure that power would not get them a 300 mile (P* 4) driving range, so they opted to start lower. Beautiful cars, I hope they get thing sorted and we can have a great experience with them.

They are pricing their cars too high because they're putting too much unnecessary stuff into them as standard -- stuff like air suspension, too-large wheels, high-end sound system, soft-close doors, glass roofs, etc. Cut this stuff out and you'll get cheaper prices and better range due to lower weight.

@@panameradan6860 Funny though, that Polestar 4 in China is about 1/2 the price, up to $38K, for the fully loaded version with the Performance Pack. Zeekr 001 is using re same platform (battery as well) as Polestar 4, it has more power and better range and is a bit longer with more cargo space. It’s not that they can’t so it, it’s that things are priced much higher in the US. They need more EV competition to drive down prices. Heck, Tesla is dropping the 3 price to under $30K with the $7500 incentive. At that price, I’m inclined towards it but, I’m not a fan of the center only screen setup.

it's a shame that they can't make some of this unnecessary standard stuff to be optional and reduce the price greatly (stuff like air suspension, high-end sound system, glass roof, soft-closing doors, electronically receding door handles, etc.). If Polestar made all those things optional instead of standard (and throw in 18- or 19-inch wheels for better range as well as lower cost/weight), I'll bet they could get the MSRP close to $65k USD MSR, with potential US federal tax credit of $7500 bringing the final cost to buyers of well under $60k USD.

For me, Polestar is an unknown quantity and $80K is a lot of money. For me, the refreshed Model Y is the best option. I just don't understand all the product options when you are producing vehicles in such low volumes. It seems like it just adds costs and manufacturing/inventory complexity.

After fisker, this is way too risky for buyers. Same "asset light" business model. Another penny stock. Furthermore Volvo is now selling it's Polestar stock and it competes directly with the Polestar brand. What is really going on here? Is it independence or a shell game?

different markets. one is more backcountry and offroad oriented, the other is a driver's car Porsche/Audi/BMW-alternative with Scandanavian design, that can do AWD SUV things as well, but with limited cargo capacity. look at some of the reviews of the Polestar 3 that are coming out.

Geely Chinese product. Why not buy equivalent or better quality from an ally. Korea, Japan, Germany, Detroit etc. I drive a BMW EV. It’s used which is the only way I could afford it. The workers who built this car are paid more and have better benefits than union auto workers in the US. How we spend our dollars has a bigger effect on the world than ANY other decision in our day to day lives.

The Kia EV9 and the Polestar 3 are not in the same market segment, there is no reason to think a purchase decision would be based on price alone. The Polestar 3 is being marketed as an upscale performance oriented vehicle. The EV9 more in line of an upscale family hauler.

Polestar 3 is a 2-row luxury SUV; Kia EV9 is a 3-row family SUV. Not the same thing, you’re comparing Apple to Orange.

Let’s pretend I’m willing to spend $70+ k on an ev. Would I be ready to gamble those funds on a brand that we still don’t know will survive… I get a Fisker chill.

Polestar is Geely, it's not going anywhere. Worse case scenario it gets folded back into Volvo.

@@MTNRanger The public financials recently filed by Polestar should give buyers pause. Volvo competes with Polestar and is now selling it's Polestar stock in the company leaving Geely as the super majority owner in a US that is taxing anything Chinese. It's a real political and financial risk even though it's built in USA. So I respectfully disagree with you that Volvo will buy it back. Right now it's a penny stock mess. Looks like a nice car though.
