The problem with paying Gurkha veterans the same Pensions as British veterans is problematic if they are returning to Nepal as almost "millionaires" - however, those who choose to retire here do have a case for equality. I think that the Nepal Govt are part of the agreement due to the impact on their economy.

@Richard500 Napal, like many countries, is part of the frozen pension scheme. Like Canada, New Zealand, Australia, India, and many others. They've angered just about the whole country with this act of cultural and historical vandalism. They made sure to do it just before the Summer Solstice too. Stonehenge is a legally recognised religious site for some Pagan traditions and it's opened to the public on the Solstice for religious rites and celebration of the date. For most people in the country it's at least a valuable part of our cultural history. For some people they've had one of their foremost religious sites vandalised just in time for the year's most important celebratory date. The people responsible should probably go into hiding if they know what's good for them.

Rommel was the Army commander who was NOT a Nazi: he was simply a highly competent army commander who whilst loyal to his country, did not like what the Party was doing to his Army or his country. It's the equivalent of saying that because you are, say, British, that you must be a supporter of the ruling political party of the day.

Erwin Rommel was one of German's most popular generals during World War II, and was regarded as one of Hitler's most successful generals and one of Germany's most popular military leaders. Known as the Desert Fox for the campaign he conducted in North Africa. In 1944 however, after he was implicated in a plot to overthrow Hitler, Rommel took his life after he was offered suicide or a trial.

Yes, his comment to John that he only wanted to record the squeals and screams of the tourists is a load of bollocks - those filming can easily pick those up on their cameras (we hear it in every video filmed there). However, the recording device would pick up the quiet conversations between troopers, troopers and police, and between the police officers - those normally can't be picked up on the cameras. That's what he was really after and good on the MOD police for quickly dealing with him when he was caught doing it.

I don't think that lady said get out of the way, I think she was asking if the other person wanted her out of the way. Also, I can totally understand that gentleman being banned. Putting any kind of furtive listening device in a military area is not a good idea. If he'd have asked first, he probably would have been told no, but then he wouldn't be banned. Silly mistake with terrible consequences.
