Aw bless him. Left handed salute so he doesn’t knock himself out with those badges on his right arm. He loves Britain & the guards. x

Those officers could have at least returned the salute, the man made the effort, so should they have. It would have cost them nothing to do so, and the old fellas heart would have pumped to bursting with pride, probably for the rest of the week.

He's there every year for at least 15 years that I know of. He even has a special location to watch the Lord Mayor's Show on the Saturday and then he's there for the Remembrance Sunday. I have taken part in the Lord Mayors Show for at least 25 years in the procession and in my later years as a Marshall. I would see him every year on the side on a little platform saluting all the military serials. Yes, a left handed salute as well. Even on the Marshall's Breakfast/Briefing, the Police would mention him by name. He's there every year without fail. I have said good morning a few times going past him on Remembrance Sunday whilst in uniform, it makes his day. He takes it quite seriously. He's probably mad as box of frogs, but a harmless figure.

He is well known to the Police. His name is William Wallace and he's quite harmless.

Perhaps he was someone who 'wanted to be' many years ago, but couldn't. I'd have a lot of time for a gentleman like him. In his own 'uniform' and giving a left hand salute, but does it really matter? Respect comes in many forms.

He has to do something there's no coal at home, better he does that and bring us some cheer. Good on yer mate and I'm sure my father would have given him a wink or nod, dad was a Welsh Guardsman 1938 through WWII to 1944. He wore green more than Bearskin and Red tunic.

Hats off to the officers acknowledging him … not sure why the police had an issue with him …he looked pretty harmless to me … bless the old boy 🫡

I didnt see the police have an issue with him, it looked like the barrier had lifted a bit and they were sorting it out.
@Chris1719810 күн бұрын
@@davidhall7811 that’s what I was trying to say … if it was someone else they wouldn’t have felt to adjust the fence … but because it was a slightly eccentric man they adjust the barrier to stop him moving on the road …
@clyde259810 күн бұрын
They didn’t. One of the barriers needed fixing and as the agency with primary responsibility for security it was their responsibility to fix it.
@dlxmarks10 күн бұрын
At the beginning of the video, the barrier there was popped out of alignment. He helped the officers fix it, they smiled and moved on, and he stayed in place. Otherwise if they meant to intimidate him, that would be the most ineffective passive aggressive policing I've ever seen.
