Police Catch Couple Partying Too Hard On The Boat

Bodycam Footage From 09/03/2023 - Game Warden Amis and another officer were patrolling Norfork Lake when they observed a dark blue pontoon boat departing Float Creek and heading towards Robinson Point. A female individual was operating the vessel with a male individual seated beside her, who then stood up next to her. Upon noticing the patrol boat, they switched positions in operating the vessel, momentarily leaving the steering unattended. The boat did not display any registration stickers or numbers. The officers initiated blue lights and began following the boat. It took the female operator several hundred yards to stop the vessel. The officers approached the individuals and discussed the absence of registration and the reason for switching drivers. The individuals stated they had owned the vessel for about a year, had taken it out on the water multiple times, and were unaware of the requirement to display registration information. They explained that they switched drivers so the female could enjoy the view.
Upon approaching the individuals, the officers detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from both of them. They inquired about their alcohol consumption, to which the female stated she had not consumed much, while the male initially claimed he had not consumed any. A preliminary breath test (PBT) administered to the female registered 0.045, while the PBT given to the male at 18:59 registered 0.17. The officers conducted a Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test on the male subject, which revealed distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation and prior to 45 degrees in both eyes.
Subsequently, the male subject was asked to retrieve his wallet and shoes and join the officers in their boat for further testing. They traveled to Robinson Point for Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST). During the HGN portion of the SFST, the male subject exhibited lack of smooth pursuit in both eyes, sustained and distinct nystagmus in both eyes, and nystagmus onset prior to 45 degrees in both eyes. During the walk and turn test, the subject had difficulty maintaining balance during the instructional stage and stopped walking after the first step of the second set of steps, also making an incorrect turn at the end of the first nine steps. During the one-leg stand test, the subject put his foot down within the first 10 seconds.
At that point, the officers informed the male subject that he would be charged with Boating While Intoxicated (BWI) and would be transported to the Baxter County Jail for a blood alcohol content (BAC) test. Deputy Clay Maple transported the individuals to the Baxter County detention center. The male subject was read his statement of rights, and Deputy Maple conducted the BAC test, which returned a final result of 0.153 at 20:41. The male subject was issued a citation for BWI, inattentive operation, and improper number display, and was subsequently booked into jail.

I've two titled boats I've had for years and never registered. Guess I should and sell them. 6 boats in the garage, two taking two stalls each, leaves only 4 stalls for the vehicles, motorcycles, side by side. I think these two were just ignorant, and ignorant can learn, unlike stupid.

AAAHHH...Majority are on the salt in Florida, sometimes miles offshore, sometime near shore but even miles further from a dock/ramp they can use. Testing has to be done within 2 hours of the LEOs suspicions becoming apparent. Need tests that can be given on unstable conditions.

when i was a minor (which wasn’t that long ago), a house party i was at got busted with a bunch of underage teens drinking and the cops breathalyzed everyone. I wasn’t drinking i’m more of a smoker, so i was very confident when it was my turn. the cops were being rude all night and i talked back to them (shouldn’t of done that) but when it came to be my turn to blow, the officer looks at me and says “that’s why u were arguing so much” and shows me a 0.017 on the thing🤦🏻‍♂️ he requested everyone’s parents be called to pick them up and my dad is very strict so i was so scared. I call my dad and tell him to come down while i’m shaking to death knowing i’m about to get my ass beat for something i surly didn’t do (at that point i seriously have not had a sip of alcohol in my life and was thinking the cops did it on purpose because I was arguing, especially that many of the people that were actually drinking blew 0’s). My dad arrives a good 8 minutes later and i’m explaining the situation as he stares at me with “i’m going to murder you” eyes. I’m swearing up and down that I never drank alcohol and telling him that many people that were actually drinking blew 0’s and that it’s probably a misunderstanding, but none of it mattered because me being at a house party with a bunch of girls and alcohol and all kinds of stuff around me already sealed the deal on my ass whooping. The cop gives my dad a court date and explains everything to him, while that’s happening, another cop car arrives. I walk up to the cop as he’s exiting his car and I explain my story to him and tell him very overwhelmed begging him to help me out. The man offers me to take another breath sample on a breathalyzer device they “use in court” and I quote. At that point wtf do i have to lose? I say yes please. I blow in that shit and it comes back triple 0’s🤦🏻‍♂️ I start jumping up and down with happiness I literally started breakdancing and screaming out of joy. The cop walks up to the other cop that was talking to my dad and explains to him what happened and they cross out my name off their paper and my dad goes “so he doesn’t have to go to court?” and the cop says no he’s good. I get my phone out and start recording on the way back home telling the story on snapchat and to this day I still rewatch that video because of in shock I look in it. I wish I wasn’t a dumb minor and tried to file some sort of complaint or anything. I wish I can even extract their footage to see if they tried to set me up.
