What you use to sanitize a vest? I do wash the outer carrier every other week. Would spraying isopropyl alcohol on the surface and let it breath do the trick?
@DarkFire5154 жыл бұрын
If the solution is more than 70% alcohol it'll be very effective against NCOV and also bacteria but the plastic material might not react all that well long-term. As a short term solution though not a bad idea at all.

Look at using Vinegar, Baking Soda & Lemon Juice as a sanitiser. I have used Tea Tree Oil that is from a native tree here in Australia. Eucalyptus oil is another natural sanitiser but again Gum Trees are native to Australia so this is common for us to acquire anywhere.
@keeptyrannyfromamerica85194 жыл бұрын
Matthew Brown Walmart carries tea tree oil but it’s got to be cut with 90% ethanol or 190 everclear 2 oz is about $12usd locally and will damage leather and nylon duty belts. Saddle Soap is usually in shoe area and the Cale bar soap in laundry it’s also good for poison ivy itch. Social Distance is a joke had 2 city PD standing less than 2 feet from my Thursday while I was getting coffee in a c-store. Neither new I was on the job when asked nicely to step back a bit tried to Terry stop me. Ended up calling the watch commander. You’d think seeing a slick top & bull bars on a caprice gassing up would be a clue that someone might be with another agency especially carrying a 1911, cuffs & id. We have half the department waiting on test results until then anyone with a badge is patrolling. Even out of state private security has been made reserve or constables

@@keeptyrannyfromamerica8519 Wow that is so bloody expensive - I guess we are so lucky to have it made here & grown from local trees. Whatever you use it has to be readily available, effective, portable & affordable. I gave out a few personal bottles of sanitizer that are refillable to people. These 2 oz bottles are portable but will run low if shared with others. You probably saw the scenes on TV here we people got into brawls over toilet in our supermarkets. Places like Aldi & Costco were inundated with panic buying. Yes the social distancing is a bloody joke as people are just ignorant or bloody stupid. Many places have cash only transactions & whilst I would use either I have used the cards at the fuel pumps to get & go. A few times I have been shopping, limits have been imposed on the quantity purchased. Police have had attend these fights we learned that most of the stuff is being sent to China - just like the baby formula. A tin is $30 AUD but it China is worth up to 10 times that.

Just a tid bit. WD-40 is a penetrating oil so over time it can cause bluing or parkerizing to wear faster than normal. Rem oil or Lucas makes some stuff called CLP stuff works GREAT for guns and anything metal that needs lubricating👍 hope this helps a bit

For leather im pretty sure you can use saddle soap and obenauf’s leather conditioner. EDIT: haven’t tested on belt, only tested on boots. It isn’t a shoe *polish* thing though
@keeptyrannyfromamerica85194 жыл бұрын
Tai Suggest saddle soap as last resort & final conditioner. 3% hydrogen peroxide soak for 10 minutes THOROUGH RINSE with distilled water, washing with old fashioned cake laundry soap, light scrub with an old toothbrush and hibiclens surgical scrub followed by a distilled water rinse will work with leather and nylon. You have to make sure you dry slowly preferably in the sun, use DISTILLED water and a leather conditioner that doesn’t penetrate if you have a Tandy Leather or an old style cobbler shoe repair near you the manager likely has a book of old leather formulas on his bookshelf. I’ve got some gear from the 1920’s that looks like Galls just took it off the shelf. Also check with a local funeral home and see if the use UVC lights to sanitize sterilize after body preparation washing with soap & water then hanging a bunch of gear @ once with UV-C lights will kill almost all viruses and bacteria. It’s how the OR @ your local hospital is sterilized. I have 1 for my cell phone & glasses before this panic they were $39.95 now around $250 locally

There's usually the option of stopping by your local hospital ED and using a few of their purple wipes. Although, at least the hospital I work at is starting to get pretty stingy with those things. just be advised that they leave residue on glass/screens.

If you have a backyard pool you likely know the sanitizer tablets grind or scrape and powder a TEASPOON into 1 gallon of water will make about a 15% chlorine sanitizer solution will need to be rinsed after 5 minutes. Make sure you don’t mix it with any other cleaners except soap that doesn’t have anything other than basics, Ivory, Octagon no Dawn or dishwashing with antibacterial products added. Don’t use it on your weapon (someone local asked prisoner vomited on them). If you can drop your clothes in a garbage bag outside if you cannot change at work wash at home. Had a lot of officers learn to iron lately. Likely gone by now but Ollie’s & Big Lots chains in the NC-SC area received about 200 pump bottles of Purell per store and limited them 1 per person daily. The large ones @$10 per bottle so you can refill the minis. Everclear is 190 proof it will kill everything. What has me is I have people that can’t feed the family at domestics I’m going on but plenty of fresh alcohol and empty cigarette packs. I was at a 7-11 type store yesterday getting a pack of sunflower seeds & soda, Officers from another department had no idea who I was. No uniform, tennis shoes since I had been cutting the yard and they were about 2 feet away waiting in-line. Our Governor swears “Social Distance” will stop the spread of COVID & mutations People are pumping gas with gloves on. Had to ask my Dr. to wash hands before got a shot Tuesday 4 my Spring sinus infection. We’ve got half of 1 department furloughed or sick & since only calls we are physically responding to are assaults in progress, shots fired or emergency medical dispatch isn’t trained to a level enough to get the bs out of regular calls and true emergencies are getting put in the whenever pile. The way it looks we will be getting food by air drop. Seniors getting in early buying up.88cent bread at Walmart parking lot becomes $5 to $8. $10 for a roll of Scott paper. We have anti gouging laws but only for businesses.

Meanwhile, there's a brazilian colonel instructing his officers to wash their guns and ammo with water and soap everyday at the end of shift. I kid you not, it got to the point where CBC (official ammo supplier) released a letter explicitly telling everyone to NOT DO THAT and the moron still insists his subordinates ignore the manufactures instructions.

Ask them if the position will allow you to do a ride along every month once requirements have been wet. The more ride alongs the better. Keep exposed and you will have a huge advantage in the academy. Most important? STAY CLEAN! No tickets, no stealing, nothing that you KNOW is a crime no matter how minimal.
