Umm he was drunk.
@givemeabreak3906 ай бұрын
@@stevewhitener4903 "Umm he was drunk." There is ZERO evidence that he was drunk. Let's break it down for you. 1. The bar states that they asked him to leave due to erratic behavior such as asking to pay a tab he didn't have there (not necessarily a sign of being intoxicated) 2. The bar states that they served him one alcoholic drink and 2 waters which is not enough to become as severely intoxicated as he seemed at different points in time 3. The bar staff and his friends felt no reason that he wasn't able to walk back to his hotel on his own 4. His friends felt no reason to call the police until late the next day, likely because they assumed he just hooked up with someone and would come back on his own time 5. He is seen running from someone who isn't there on one video and appears to be talking to someone who isn't there when he gets up 6. He shows erratic movements at this time 7. He then appears to be talking to himself while crossing at an intersection and causing 4 different groups of people to display signs of fear, not concern 8. Approximately 600 to 700 feet later, he appears to be completely sober and gave an officer no reason to suspect him as the car burglar or believe he was publicly intoxicated Matt71439's question is a valid one. Which was "what his thoughts" at that time? We see him alternating between moments of lucidity and what appears to be psychosis and not public intoxication. Claiming that "he was drunk" has always not set right with me. His behaviors seemed to indicate a mental health episode even before the bar stated they only served him one alcoholic drink. It's very hard to explain how you can go to and from the extremes he was without it being mental health related. Had the officer been 600 or 700 ft up the road and saw how he was acting just moments before he seemed completely normal, the officer would have likely detained him, gave him a field sobriety test, determined he wasn't intoxicated and taken him to a hospital for a mental health evaluation but the problem with certain mental health conditions is that they can have intermittent symptoms. One moment the person can seem normal and the next they can be experiencing the symptoms of the mental health condition. My first instinct after watching videos of him was that he was experiencing psychosis. This new video backs up my first impression because we have a moment of psychosis at the bar causing them to kick him out (attempting to pay a bar tab he didn't have), a moment of lucidity at the bar causing the staff and his friends to believe he was fine to walk home, a moment of psychosis (after leaving the bar) where he appears to be run from imaginary people and appearing to be talking to someone he thinks is next to him, and then a short distance away causing people to show fear at an intersection while he appears to be talking to himself and not them. Then about 600 - 700 feet later he walks past a police officer who asks him how he is doing and he shows no signs of intoxication or thought disturbance. Then shortly after that he disappears. This doesn't sound like someone who was intoxicated. It sounds like someone who is probably experiencing a psychotic episode. The good thing about that is that if he is then he is probably fine and doesn't know who he is and may even have created an entirely false sense of self. This happens a lot more than people think and I've had patients, especially among the homeless, who have had this happen to them. It is even possible that a predatory homeless person or someone who wanted to protect him took him under their care because they believed he was severely disabled and would be taken advantage of or was easy prey. Because of the transient nature of the homeless, it's possible that he has even moved on to another city with someone who is taking care of him after he showed up shirtless without any identification.

Could be drug induced hallucinations, if behavior so bad to be ejected, should have called medic, but bar will say so what. Teach your kids to say f off to drugs.
@givemeabreak3906 ай бұрын
@@Stardustpal25 You are making an assumption that his "behavior so bad to be ejected" but bars will often eject people whose behavior isn't even anywhere near "so bad." This is because they prefer to err on the side of caution and to avoid it reaching that point. The bar didn't say the reason for him to be ejected but it could be as simple as thinking he had a bar tab at the bar even though he didn't and they had only served him 1 alcoholic drink and 2 waters. That's all it may take for some bars to eject someone. You are making it sound like he needed medical attention but we don't have any evidence of him needing a "medic" at the bar and now we know, from the police bodycam, that he likely didn't need a "medic" at various points throughout the night. This is why psychotic episodes can be so dangerous. People may not even know that the person is in medical need. You also fail to mention that none of his friends called for medical attention and didn't seem to have any cause for concern when they returned to the hotel and he was not there. This is likely because he was not as "bad" as you think he was, when they last saw him which was at the bar. They likely thought he had just hooked up with someone and would come back to the hotel on his own time which is why they waited until the afternoon of the next day to call and report him as missing. If he was ejected because he was "so bad to be ejected" then his friends would have called for help but they didn't either. What you don't understand about psychosis, is that it can be intermittent and an episode can range from mild to severe over the course of several minutes to several hours. it is very possible that he was removed for the bar while in a lucid state just like he was in a lucid state moments before he disappeared. We know this is the case because the police officer felt no cause for concern and the reason the officer didn't do anything is because Riley Strain looked completely fine and not in need of any medical attention just seconds or minutes before he disappeared. If your claim is true, then he should have been in such a "bad" state that he needed medical attention even while interacting with the officer. This wasn't the case. You are basically saying that we should assume that he was "so bad" at the bar even though he was not "so bad" in front of the officer. If we didn't have this bodycam footage showing him in a lucid state, it may be reasonable to assume the bar kicked him out while he was in a bad state but it's far more likely based on this video that they only had mild concerns about somewhat erratic behaviors and it didn't warrant them calling the police and EMT's to have him arrested and taken to the hospital and then jail for public intoxication. In other words, it's very likely they removed him while he was acting the way he acts on the officer's body cam. Of course, based on his behaviors I don't think he was intoxicated or high. He does not look to be either. Instead he looks to be experiencing a mental health episode with alternating states of lucidity and psychosis. It would be extremely unreasonable for a bar to assume he needed medical attention if he was insisting on paying a bar tab he didn't have but it would be enough cause for concern to eject him. The bar and his friends didn't report that he was hallucinating, not even in his friends 911 call. There have been no reports of this yet we clearly see him experiencing a psychotic state on surveillance video. We see him go from acting like he was at the intersection to being completely fine 600 to 700 feet later. There is no reason for us to believe that the bar had cause to believe he was in need of medical attention. We have seen points where he may have needed help and points where he was completely fine and didn't need help. Yet, you assume that not one person at the bar chose to call 911 while observing him in obvious need of medical care. This isn't believable. Even if we remove the bar staff from the situation, you have his friends and many other customers who could have called 911 if they believed their friend or another customer was in need of immediate medical assistance. They didn't and this is likely because his behavior was not "so bad" while at the bar. Instead, it's more likely that the bar was just being overly cautious and conservative in removing someone from their bar, on the off-chance that they may cause an issue later in the night. "but bar will say so what" Bars are not in the habit of calling the police to have their customers arrested for mild to moderate misbehaviors that would warrant them ejecting them but not calling the police to have them arrested. Who would want to go to a bar that makes a habit of having their customers arrested for public intoxication? It's not like the police would have discretion to not arrest someone for public intoxication. Bars can't call for a "medic" without the police getting involved. If he showed any signs of public intoxication when the officer interacted with him, he would have been going to jail. The law is pretty clear on this. In Tennessee, the law simply says "A person commits the offense of public intoxication who appears in a public place under the influence of a controlled substance or any other intoxicating substance to the degree that (1) The offender may be endangered; (2) There is endangerment to other persons or property; or (3) The offender unreasonably annoys people in the vicinity." Why would a bar make a habit of getting their customers a fine or up to 30 days in jail for public intoxication? They aren't going to make a habit of waiting until their customers are so wasted that EMT's need to help them and police need to arrest them. This bar probably has called the police and EMT's on many of their customers but in this case, they likely did not call the police on him because he was fine. Ask to pay a bar tab you don't have while at a bar, and the next thing you know EMT's are requiring you to receive medical care you don't need and the police are criminally charging you with public intoxication. Is that what you think bars should do? That kind of bar is going to go out of business fast since no one is going to want to be arrested for public intoxication even though they aren't endangered, aren't endangering other persons or property and aren't unreasonably annoying other people. It's also inappropriate for bars and other businesses to needlessly call the police on someone who appears to be experiencing mild mental health issues. If a person poses no obvious threat to themselves or others, they should not have the police called on them. The problem with this though is that the mild can become severe very quickly and that person could become a danger to themselves or others. But people should still wait until the person is a danger to themselves or others before calling the police. I think you assume that "medics" can be dispatched to a bar for someone who is "endangered" without the police also being dispatched but they can't. If Riley Strain had left the bar and made it back to the hotel, then it would be obvious that the bar would have gone overboard in calling the police on him. Yet, you are assuming that they saw something that would have warranted Riley Strain going to jail that night after receiving emergency medical treatment to stabilize him before going to jail. But there's absolutely no evidence of Riley Strain being a danger to himself and others while still at the bar and the bar has turned over their surveillance video already and I suspect the reason that has not been released yet is the same reason that the video of the officer's body cam took so long. Riley Strain looked fine on the body cam video and looked fine on the bar's surveillance video so the police didn't want to release it because people would downplay the seriousness of him being missing. This would explain why they would have chosen to release the video of his most erratic moments first and not him acting fine at the bar and acting fine when interacting with police.

This video of Riley, speaking to the police officer breaks my entire heart! Why didn’t Riley asked the police officer to take him to his hotel? Why didn’t the police officer stop and talk to him? When I say not one single person, including the police, didn’t help him at all. This is heartbreaking to watch.
@hauntedbearchild6 ай бұрын
He also did not help himself. The officer had no reason to think anything was wrong with him, Riley was acting normal with the officer. The police are not mindreaders, not are they babysitters for adults.

Wait so now y our blaming the offices? The kids appearance fine here. This is a party city. Alot of crime. Cops don' have time to babysit every single person that is walking normal. Remember this is way before he was even missing. So, stop placing blame and place blame on the adult who got drunk.

I can't stop wondering what happened to this young man! I have heard of a couple different reasons for him being removed from Luke's bar. One reason is that he was too intoxicated and the other is because of a disturbance involving him. It's like he just vanished! I would like to hear some things from his "friends", like was he carrying a wallet or did he just have I.D. and bank card on him. Would he have carried those things in his shirt pocket? Were they all together while inside the bar? Why didn't at least one of them go with him? Why didn't they call police as soon as they got back to the hotel and noticed he was not there instead of waiting until the next day? Are the police using dogs to try and track him? It's just so sad. I can't imagine the pain and frustration for his parents.

Reminds me of a case a few years ago, I think it was San Francisco. A young man eft his friends and girlfriend or fiancé in a bar and went home but was never seen again and the exact same type of search ensued for weeks. People came up with all kinds of theories, and there was a strange foot path that a lot of people walked or ran or used for a shortcut. But it would have been unusual for him to be using it. Allegedly there was homeless and also criminals in this isolated foot path area. In the end, he ended up being found in in some kind of water about a month later. I think he was from a high profile family or at least his parents or father was possibly in a hight position. I could be confusing a few details with other cases, but essentially it's a very similar case. Disappeared into thin area and took a month to find him in a body of water.

Anyone find this video of the cop strange? Why did he walk down the street looking into cars then turn around and walk back in the direction he came from? Then he speaks to the young man and cop walks on and then tells his location. Something is off about this cop! Cops don’t operate like this!
@givemeabreak3906 ай бұрын
It is completely normal for police to check other parked vehicles on a burglary call. He was simply checking to ensure there were no other car burglaries and the reason he walked back the way he came was to return to the vehicle that had been burglarized. Cops also state their locations for the body cam after checking vehicles on a burglary call. This is to ensure that there is a record of their location for court proceedings since defense counsel could state that it could be any street and a recording from any night. As for speaking to him, this is what police would do during an investigatory incident. This is to get the potential suspects on video including their voices and to illicit any potential misbehavior that would give them reason to conduct an investigatory stop. If Riley Strains had said "I didn't do anything, why are you talking to me" instead of "I'm good, how are you" this could have turned it into an investigatory stop because this would have provided probable cause for a detention (i.e., he was in the area of a burglary and behaved suspiciously when just asked how he was doing).

He was alone and vulnerable. He was handsome and young. He was under the influence. He was a prime target for a piece of trash human to take advantage of him. Cops are saying they don’t suspect foul play? I’m sorry, but a person doesn’t just disappear in thin air! This almost reminds me of the movie, “The Black Phone” in a way. Like someone jumped him and threw him in a vehicle. This sounds like a kidnapping? There could be more people involved? At first I thought he might have accidentally fell over the rock wall because he’s so tall, and fell in the river but this body cam footage has changed my mind. He sobered up pretty quick. This case is bizarre. He really looked drugged in those other CT shots. The cops know more than us now so we just trust the process, and PRAY. I love his smile. He seems like such a great young man. My heart aches for his parents and family. I am still so angry at his friend group! Come as a group, leave as a group. I’m a Gen X’r common sense. @@QUEENDEB483 There have been several reasons that I've heard of so far as to why Riley was asked to leave the bar. One was that he made an inappropriate pass at a woman. Two was because he asked to settle a bar tab that he did not have. Three was because of an undisclosed incident that happened in the bathroom. The consensus was that he was asked to leave because of his behavior and not that he was merely drunk.
