My husband just went through a similar situation. My husband is a locksmith and he was called to a tow yard to unlock a car and whenever he popped the trunk he found a bag with 17 to 20 driver's licenses of women. He called the police. They came, barely took a report, and didn't even ask my husband for identification or to fill an affidavit. We didn't hear anything else about it until an FBI agent was at a car dealership that's an account of my husband's and he overheard two salesman talking about what my husband had found in a car trunk. He had been investigating it and the local police never even handed it over to him and it was a huge part of evidence.. the FBI agent was fuming mad to say the least. I mean that's a huge thing in an investigation and the local police just didn't GAF come to find out they verified that at least half of the women were missing from States up and down the East Coast SMH it really boggles my mind the people that they hire to protect and serve society because clearly they can't be bothered when it comes to actual work. Look at how many women have gone missing and have been murdered and the police refuse to investigate it because of a certain lifestyle that they had. Who are the cops to say who's important in this world and who isn't? How would they feel if it was one of their family members that were missing/ murdered and nobody wanted to investigate it. It can happen to anybody. I think that police need to reevaluate themselves and start protecting EVERYONE. Not just who they feel is more important because we are all human beings and we all bleed red🙏🏼💔

Good on that lady! It's sad that there's laptops that are either stolen property or may have evidence of trafficking on them, yet the police are too busy and understaffed to run the serial numbers and/or give them a digital forensics exam. :(

Yeah, cops are too busy harassing innocent people. They don't give a shit about possible evidence from a trafficking ring. I mean, shit, if it's all stolen then give it back to the rightful owners. As a ret. LEO, I can say that I've worked with some idiots who should have never kept their job. For example, on one burglary investigation of broken-in slot machines, the store owner told me that each night before closing he'd wipe down all of the chrome-plated slot machine covers with a damp towel leaving a spotless finish now covered in fingerprints. When the ID people came to take photos of the damage, I informed the sergeant about the fingerprint situation and what the owner had told me. The sergeant in charge didn't bother lifting any prints, and he was leaving? When I asked why he didn't lift prints, he said, "Well how do you know those prints belong to the burglars?: I always felt that "supervisor' wasn't too bright because of how he presented himself. He just demonstrated my correct opinion of him. Then there was the time that I found credit cards in multiple different names on an illegal alien Mexican brought into our Detention facility by another agency. I phone that agency to report what I had just found so that the arresting officer, who should have found those credit cards during the arrest for a traffic violation, could immediately return. Did the arresting officer of that other agency return to take possession of the cards? No? At the time that other officer had just departed our facility so he couldn't have been far away. For the next 5 hours, nobody returned for the cards which obviously didn't belong to that illegal alien? I took it upon myself to start tracking down the names on those credit cards. One card belonged to a woman who told me that her automobile had been burglarized in a church parking lot a week earlier which would indicate that the illegal alien was the prime suspect for that burglary. The names on the other cards weren't listed locally and probably belonged to people living out of the area or state. If nothing else, that illegal alien could have been charged with Possession of Stolen Property, a 5-year prison sentence if convicted There were other stupid situations I encountered during my career that left me shaking my head.
