Thanks for another fun video, Ben. A three-letter combination used in registration marks that appears to have escaped the 'decency' checks by DVLA is 'FUD', which has a certain meaning in Scottish vernacular. It's more or less equivalent to 'tw*t'. Had a smile to myself driving along the M8 to Edinburgh a few years back when I was overtaken by a Mitsubishi Evo with the reg' Y4 FUD. I have since learned that the same three-letter combo is often used in all sincerity as an acronym for 'Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt' in relation to issues in areas such as marketing and sales by people blissfully unaware why Scots in the audience appear to be amused at its use. Keep up the good work!

When I was a kid "Dobber" was slang for a condom. More specifically, the used discarded kind, found in alleyways. "Errr! It's a Dobber!" lol The more traditional meaning is a pen used in old people's Bingo Halls where you blot the paper with the numbers on with a "Dobber".

Just ordered your book Hotel Tango 23 responding to the unknown. I don't work due to health issues it's been in my amazon basket fir weeks maybe months. Iam having issues with depression so though reading may help. Really looking foward to it now x
@residentelect2 жыл бұрын
It's a fantastic read Nicola, but as regards to your depression it may well upset you at some points as some of the incidents Ben has dealt with and his subsequent feelings are explained in great detail. He doesn't pull any Punches. That being said it is equally hilarious and you'll need a box of tissues nearby due to dabbing away both tears of laughter and sadness. With depression It's important to keep your mind occupied and I've found reading very helpful. I suffer from PTSD which can manifest itself in a very deep depression when at times. It's very hard to lift yourself back up when you feel so down, especially if you're also fighting a physical disability as well. I hope you're getting all the help and support you both need and deserve. Even though we like to think that our society has moved on in terms of understanding mental health, I personally believe we still have a very long way to go, especially in respect of the treatment and support provided by the NHS, as the system has been chronically underfunded for decades now. All the best chuck, and enjoy Hotel Tango 23!

It would appear there is a north/south divide by a common language! In England, it seems that "Dobber' is used to refer to someone who 'dobs others in?' In Scotland, it refers to genitalia - usually male - but not exclusively, as we maximise the use of every slang term available for body parts to make our opinion known of people we don't like. I'll assume I need not say more ...
@pspence9569 Жыл бұрын
We call a dobber a clype. The Language divide, English and Scots/Doric are literally two different languages. All Scots can speak English, but about 85%, according to our last census, of us also still know Scots/Doric.

tasers only become bad if used improperly or by someone that isnt trained as if misused a taser could potentially in a very rare instance kill hence why i think theres a limit of times the trigger can be squeezed or theres a period of time before it can be ignited again thats just what ive heard if im wrong let me know cuz what i heard is that a police taser had more voltage than an electric eel which can not only kill a human but it can kill a horse
