Just a note John, my Grandfather was in the Signals in the Boer War and he told me that when all the horses and their Riders were in line, if you stood about ten feet way you should only see ONE horse and Rider nothing else! My Grandfather was a true Horse Whisperer and in his retirement he used to go to the local race course, and as soon as the Jockies saw him, they all wanted him to calm their horses down. He adored his horses and during WW2 he was in charge of GWR stables, during Air Raids he would leave my sister, mother and myself and go and be with his beloved horses! Our father was in the Army!

Thank you for your kind remarks. My Grandfather had so many tales that he would tell me about his time in Africa. One day he found an injured polecat and took it back to camp with him. Unfortunately the African Polecat is the equivalent of a skunk, and he had to clean himself and his horse before they would let him back into camp! He made a safe bed for it outside the camp, and fed and watered it until it recovered! It never sprayed him again so maybe it was grateful.

As this Military, I don't understand, why tourists seem to think they can go where they like, when No Soldier or police, are in certain areas. I mean , does Rain hurt them. They constantly behave like Children. Pathetic. 🇬🇧🤨💦

I don’t understand how tourists are supposed to know where they may and may not go. Is there any signage telling tourists to stay out of certain areas, such as the arches or the boxes?

I think all tourists could be escorted around this place, by people who have enough Knowledge of this place, and advise,of where they can and can't go. Also to show Good Manners while here , as some clearly do not. 🇬🇧

I am a devoted fan of all things UK. Thank you John for your perfect filming and narration. I live in a vacation destination with several million tourists throughout the summer months. We refer to them with a term tourons, a combination on tourist and moron. So i am sympathetic when i see your tourists doing stupid sometimes dangerous things. The Guards are magnificent, the horses are divine. I wish i knew their names. I'll shock you by saying i enjoy when the Guards shout, or the horses get bitey or pushy when tourists get too close. My favorite is when one of the horses reached out a hoof and placed it squarely on a man's foot. I stay up after 4 a.m. watching and loving every video. Bless you sir and i wish you and yours a very Happy New Year.

That confused me to, there was a beauty without socks and your right they are born with socks. Is that lifeguard horse Radan, on the left? Who twinned with Tyranny last time same leg markings. Love that clippy cloppy time too, that poor guard issuing the orders seemed to have a light voice failure with a squeak in his voice hope, I notice too the horses get frightened, when the guards shout about reins and charge forward the poor horses look like what the hell just happened.

Good morning John, watching you from New Zealand. Discovered your videos a few days ago and have been binge watching them. Your comments almost makes me feel like I am there taking the walk with you. that horse with the "Eye brows" I have been looking at very carefully and I am wondering if he is a very very dark grey, either way they are all magnificent animals.

Invader is a veteran , hence the grey eyebrows ! All the Household Cavalry horses are black apart from the trumpeters which are grey . Johns commentary and sense of humour is what draws us all to his videos , like you say it makes you feel you are there with him , highlight of my day watching and listening better than tv 😀

I love watching the horses and the people .I've always been a people watcher.I don't understand the difference between the guards ,but I've not been watching for very long . I like your commentary on what's happening most of the time. That horse with the fluffy forlock is awesome. There all so big. They look like they're 16-18+ hands high .the one on the other day I was watching was huge! You called him Overlord. Big huge horse. Some of the best groomed horses I've ever seen. Sitting for 6hours John , would lead to blood clots in the legs of the guards . not to mention fatigue ,saddle sores . be a bad thing.

Not just for the guards. In spite of the beliefs of the “oooooh it’s CRUEL” brigade, the horses health and well being is a priority in HHCav. In fact it’s above that of the troopers(lol that’s typical army tbh 😅 horses are valuable and hard to replace, troopers are a dime a dozen and a snap to replace 😂 yes I’m joking-mostly)hence the foot guards doing 2 hour hour stints while the horses do 1. While horses have evolved to stand all the time, it’s a bit tougher on hard surfaces rather than grass or dirt, and more importantly the riders weight standing still for long periods wouldn’t be good for their backs. An hour is nothing, and in fact they could do a fair bit longer without any strain but they limit it to the lower end.

@@paulinemegson8519 so good to read some common sense. The complaints brigade don't seem to realise that the military are not softies but do know how to look after themselves and their 4 footed members.
