As + 25 years Law Enforcement and International Private Security Instructor I find Lt. Dillon techniques very updated and a lot more efficient that the old ones that put officers at risk. This material is very useful and easy to understand and practice for students. Thanks and congratulations for his effort to design procedures that are more based on real life and experience. Prior to my retirement as a Federal LEO, and an Field Training Officer, We used the standing wall search (without a wall), a bit different; but in my day between 1984-2005 it was pretty effective.

Former federal LEO (DCIS). Keep it simple. That ‘using every trick to keep the tactical advantage’: talking to them, movement, whatever… doesn’t work most of the time. Put them all face down on the ground LOOKING AT THE GROUND HANDS BEHIND THE BACK! That easy.

Talking to him using your voice to mute the sound of the cuffs coming out, would that also serve as even a minor distraction to take his mind of the idea of going to jail, even for a moment, to make it go down easier?

I'm going to add something to this video about these techniques. They are building blocks in handcuffing. However; this just doesn't happen like what a class teaches you. As someone who has worked in law enforcement I will tell you people are not text book cooperative. Often you are trying to get handcuffs on people who are fighting with you. The suspects who are cooperative will not follow commands like this either. Try to tell these people to stand a certain way to prepare them to be handcuffed. These folks are drunk, high or just unable to follow your commands. There really needs to be handcuffing techniques as to what an officer will run into in real life!

Do people really respond like a puppet like this? ("Turn your thumbs up, straighten your back..."), I don't see a lot of people cooperating in such detail

Handcuffing is not rocket science if the person is letting you handcuff them

You should give people money to not get cuffed then your training would be more realistic
