I love how you use the tiny brass tubing to imitate the turnbuckles used to adjust tension on various wires on older aircraft, and indeed still used today. Your attention to this sort of detail, TOM, is something beyond high praise and sets a standard of accuracy that should be shamelessly copied by all serious modelers.

Your presentation and angles of photography reveal a striking-looking aircraft that defies its general conception as an obsolete biplane in battle with sleek monoplanes. One wonders what the Wright brothers would have thought of such an advanced aircraft had it appeared on the sands of Kitty Hawk as they made history. Stunned silence and awe I imagine.

'who are you, sir, spirit or illusion?" -----I am the ghost of a pilot of the I-3 that I loved and flew and fought as hard as I could. This man has an artistry that is eerie and haunts me in this underworld and I am a ghost among ghosts. Do not fall for his understatement. He is humble and generous but his work is a towering miniature world, a Titan in the micro scale. Now I must return to my dark and phantom world where light and lightness of creation is completely absent."

@TomGrigat8 жыл бұрын
@Zammpie8 жыл бұрын

A friend from Cleveland shared your build of the AFX Sabre and I have looked at several others, including one I have under construction, the AFX Be2c. I am enchanted. There is so much going on here. I ordinarily use ceramic fibre for rigging after everything has been built but am going to try the UVR thread on the Be2c (a little hard to find right now). What is the biplane jig that is shown here? Bravo.

As an unabashed Grigat fan sometimes my enthusiastic visceral reaction clouds my cognition and memory. I believe it was the I-5 that saw extensive combat but on reflection I suspect certain I-3 planes and pilots saw aerial combat in the strange Spanish Civil War. It was an odd and terrible "limited war." If such a thing exists.

(Good evening. A great model, from a good manufacturer. Excellent assembly, good painting. Congratulations, you've got a great model, quite a rare and elegant fighter, the "fighter king" Polikarpov. After watching the video a few questions arose. 1) The balloon is painted black in the cockpit, so does the manufacturer give instructions? (Black balloon marking compressed air, used to start the engine, Black with a yellow stripe is a carbon dioxide labeling CO2, blue oxygen). 2) the conductor for assembling the biplane box gives the manufacturer in the set? 3) when pulling the braces, do you use brass tubing? Diameter 0.3? 4) were there any difficulties when working on the model? Once again I want to congratulate you Tom, with a beautiful model. Quiet music and an interesting presentation of information when assembling.

+Максим Сазонов thanks for your kind words 😊 here are my answers to your questions: ad 1): It was recommended by the manufacturer. Ad 2): the jig was part of the kit - very useful 🤓. Beside this the kit is very good, easy to handle and the details are incredible 😊👍
