Yes, I *think* this could be my new favorite reading and performance of this. A nice, expressive tempo, yet just a bit slower that what I've heard in other performances - though I *like it* - she gets a couple of extra notes in the trills this way, while still sounding so elegant.

Once I had enough Russian to negotiate the Streets of Petersburg, but not enough to say in her own language what I feel and think as she plays. I am revisiting Russian in the hope I could even approximate but my Russian will never be equal to my estimate of her as a person, as a musician. Had I known she existed earlier I would have been more assiduous in my Russian. But I will work at it, just so my words are not an empty gesture or mere flattery.

The visual should not intrude into one's appreciation of music but I confess that this elegant figure, alone at the keyboard, in a simple black dress [she always seemms to wear a black dress for public recitals and concerts] adds to the limpid beauty of her music. It is difficult, visually, as well as aurally, to resist her infinite charm of presence as well as er consumate musicianship. It is so exquisite and restful. Just the conditions to listen to Bach.

So true Andrew...too many other showy pianists on youtube today, even amongst those playing this piece- some body movements seems inappropriate n seems to be for showy display only.! However Polina does not do that in this piece. There are other body movements and hand movements that are totally appropriate while playing the piano tho😊. Polina expresses it all Beautifully in this piece.

Это точно лучшее исполнение, из того что я слышал, до этого слушал эту же транскрипцию в другом исполнении, не буду говорить какой пианистки, и после того исполнения, исполнение Полины показалось просто божественным Насколько то исполнение приземленное, настолько это возвышенное и очищенное от всего от страстей я бы сказал и даже в некотором роде эмоций... After listening to Osetinskaya performing several Bach pieces I'm left with an unexpected impression. I have the feeling that she allows the music to play itself, and she iis just the carrier of it. She doesn't impose herself on the piece. I love a lot of Bach renditions by others, but in them I feel as if the pianist is showing his or her interpretation. With Osetinskaya, it's the music.

As a pianist, I can really appreciate the difficulty in making those mid range voices so clear when you're also playing chords with high notes. The polyphony is not lost on me. Truly one of the most difficult aspects of the piano, and she does it effortlessly. Great tempo control, as well.
