After trying different methods The one that really works on a budget is: 1.Rotary buffer not Dual action 2.Meguiars ultimate compound with yellow cutting sponge from harbor 3 Meguiars ultimate polish with black sponge from harbor Then any $25 ceramic coating(small glass bottle)
@MatsDetailing3 ай бұрын
This all depends on the paint as all cars have different variations such as, thickness, how soft or hard the paint is etc.. That method on the paint above would have high risk of burning through and isn't needed to achieve good results. However with hard paint that would be a great combination to get the most defects out with a flawless finish. Thanks for watching! Mat
@charlesrobinson65742 ай бұрын
@@MatsDetailingNo it wouldn't! Don't try and make everyone think you (Have) to use a DA! I've been detailing for 25 years and all you need is experience with a rotary. A DA can burn through paint as well but a DA is too time consuming.

Paint correction is a long drawn out process to do it correct. I spent 14 hours in my f250 AFTER the wash back when I first got it. But paint looked amazing.

Got a job this week. I compounded the crap out of a car and nothing came out. It came shiny and i showed one of the techs and he said thats as good as it gonna get. I want to know if compound, a DA and a rupes da wool pad can really take out scratches because i have never been able to do it. From a video it looks like it all came out but standing there under the light it looks like no difference but the obvious gloss. I havent worked enough places to actually see someone do it and the only time i ever get perfect paint is if i sanded it.
@prestonthachbun186010 ай бұрын
Oh my gosh I 100% agree with this I’ve done all different methods and compared to these videos they look like they get brand new paint from the factory. On the other hand, I get exceptional results but still very very minor scratches

Try using foam pads and also make sure you're not going too fast

I just started polishing almost a year ago and I have taken scratches out but I’m not getting all of them but that’s not my problem. Problem is I’m not getting that mirror reflection like I see in videos. My car a 2017 Lincoln mkz in black velvet. What I noticed tho was after I polished and held a light up to the paint I could see like blueish glitter/flake or whatever it called. So the polishing made me able to see that but only with my light from my phone up close. I wonder why I can’t bring that glitter out so you can see it in the sun from a distance ? I’m using expensive products that have great reviews. I used Koch chemie heavy compound on a lake country wool pad then I used griot’s all in one ceramic wax as a polish to finish with a griots orange foam pad. I wonder if the griots all in one ceramic wax is not good enough to use as a polish ? I thought it would be cause it’s a 1 step compound so it does everything in one so should be able to be used as a polish after I compound.

DA polisher and some basic meguires compound, then polish will do the truck. They have a some pretty awesome easy to use stuff. There are different abrasiveness levels for compounds, and different "cut" levels of pads. Its either super simple, or obnoxiously complex.

@Richardgg94 It's down to the installer. normally you would match Polish passes to the amount of cut passes to ensure no micro swirls from the prior step get missed. This paint however whilst working on it only required as demonstrated but adding another Polish pass wouldnt hurt as it just ensures even coverage and removal of any micro swirls induced

@MatsDetailing5 ай бұрын
You only need to tape areas that have rubber inserts or mouldings as compound tend to stain these pieces. Main reason we used tape in this short was to only showcase a definite line for our before and after.
