+Nate Dawg I like Tom Woods. I have heard him many times over the years, and I respect his works. I also think he is an example of why the libertarian/conservative right has been losing so much. The logical, well reasoned, rational arguments against collecitivism have been made and understood long ago. We won the rational debate with collectivism. We lose because the collectivist don't care. They make MORAL arguments, while we play Oxford Debate Club and pat ourselves on the back for all the good points we make. We need to fight them on their own level, and make MORAL arguments, not just rational ones. -Ken LaserGuidedLoogie.com

Brian Tortoriello Yes. Rational arguments are moral arguments, but they have separated morality and rationality. They never respond with reason. They respond with the moral assault. To oppose them, we need to morally assault them. -Ken

+LaserGuidedLoogie Totally. Tom Woods actually had an episode about this on his show. "Is Reason Enough? Why Your Opponents Won't Listen." The guest (forgot his name) said that the human consciousness is like "a person riding an elephant", which represents the unconscious, automatic systems of the brain (an analogy that I found so fascinating that it's one of the reasons I'm making Psychology my major in college.) He advised people who want to have a civil discussion to "speak to the elephant" and appeal to people on an emotional level, ie you acknowledge their concerns (in this case, gender equality), and then provide your own perspective on the issue. For this reason, I wish Rothbard, in his "Against Women's Liberation" article, spent less time on demonizing feminists and instead expanded on his claim that "it was precisely capitalism and the "capitalist revolution" of the 18th and 19th centuries that freed women from male oppression," which he only spent a paragraph on. If Rothbard instead "spoke to the elephant", acknowledging that women's liberation is important (in the same way that the liberation of *anyone,* male, female, black, white etc. is important), and then explained why people who value women's liberation should embrace free-markets, I feel that he could've made a stronger case. Instead he comes off as a bitter misogynistic MRA dudebro (no, I'm not saying that he is one. But he can be easily misconstrued because of the attitude of his article.)

This is congruent with what my mother told me about the Chinese immigrants in Indonesia. Chinese immigrants in Indonesia constitute 3% of the Indonesian population, but make up 60% of the economy. During the Dutch occupation of Indonesia, the ruling Dutch perceived the Chinese to be more industrious than the native Indonesians.

When an opinion has taken root in a democracy and established itself in the minds of the majority, it afterward persists by itself, needing no effort to maintain it since no one attacks it. Those who at first rejected it as false come in the end to adopt it as accepted, and even those who still at the bottom of their hearts oppose it keep their views to themselves, taking great care to avoid a dangerous and futile contest. - Alexis de Tocqueville Nothing has changed in America. Even Alexis de Tocqueville made the same observation as Thomas Woods, Jr. over one hundred years ago. The question becomes:, can things ever change ? If so, how ? Woods says something encouraging towards the end of this video and that is the American public isn't buying the PC propaganda anymore. They've played that tune too many times , plus time has obliterated the fictions of opinion and confirmed the decisions of Nature.

The stuff you say is objectionable. Therefore, I need my my safe place to avoid any ideas which I don't understand. Oh, government (taxpayers) give me money, for no reason. Haha, great speech Dr, Woods (non-MD, piece of cr__). I've listened to more than a dozen. Do ever speak at a FEE event or other similar? How about Hillsdale? Who to reach? I iknow, so It's not necessarily my types whom know freedom & capitalism, (I'm only a few years older than you, which means nothing, but I have more formal education, which can be a bad thing.) to add knowledge to, but the youngers, as you know.

Old arguments, great delivery. Tom's great to listen to, but he's preaching to the choir. We need to change who we're talking to. SJWs seem to be increasing in numbers.

+Caleb Steele "we need to change who we're talking to...." Not sure how we do that, but we certainly need to reach people better. I quickly scanned the comments, and NO trolling or even any questioning comments. Clearly no one who needs to has watched this video.

Matt North You're right. And, even those who don't necessarily disagree are too apathetic to do anything about, nor would ever bother watching a video like this. We need a strategy!
@RococoLex8 жыл бұрын
+Caleb Steele Even if it is only the choir here, which seems to be the case, if we can take away new and better ways to present these arguments from this video to use in our discussions with other people on- and off-line, that's valuable as well. Would be great if more SJWs would watch this stuff directly though, no argument there.

A good lecture, although it barely makes sense, because only intelligent people care for any informative statistics. I don't mean that everything there was incorrect, by contrast, everything was IRREFUTABLY correct, but the war on PC won't be successful unless it is conducted by the same means your contender uses. Hence, people who care for meaningful future should spread such offensive information in hostile media.

Holy shit. You do NOT have the right to someone else’s services. That is called slavery. Who is going to pay for it idiot?
@Philiptanzer6 жыл бұрын
Nothing is free, everything is paid for. Scotland has social healthcare and university, it comes out of the tax take. The model is struggling with numbers and healthcare has ups and downs (doctors have better analytical abilities since they have to work with less testing but that means they miss stuff like cancer). You can still get private health insurance though and I would probably suggest you do if you can afford it. The model does not scale well with large numbers of people, our massive immigration increase over the last 20 years has seriously put strain on hospitals and England has gone so far as to cease taxpayer funded universities (you now get loans). Too many people go to university now and do a worthless course (I mean this money making wise, I'm sure it benefits the person) which then means the loans don't get paid back and I'm sure we're creating a bubble of debt. 40% of people go to uni now and 4x the people do sociology as mathematics, this is not a good use of money.
