It is important to give my history videos an authentic feel 😂, sadly I've accidently used it on a politics video 😢. I will endeavour to use a more up-to-date mic in the future, apologies

Hi Alan, your videos are great and help so much. I know its a bit of an ask but do you have a better microphone? Would make revising much easier as the audio is quite harsh. Thanks :)

Is Paternalistic Conservatism related to One Nation Conservatism? And how is Burke different from Maistre, if both originate from Traditionalism? Is Conservativism valid only in countries which have not abolished traditions?

Thanks. Do you know if neoconservatives support paternalism? Thanks
@AlanHistoryNerd3 жыл бұрын
Neoconservatism is part of New Right ideology. New Right ideology rejects the One Nation Conservatives ideas of paternalism instead focusing individualism and self reliance, this is however from the neoliberal aspect of their ideology. Neoconservatism focuses more on social and moral issues, in which neoconservatives focus on trying to prevent people from doing things they disapprove of and promoting things such as 'family values' that they do approve of. This could be argued to be a form of paternalism as neoconservatives would claim to be looking after the people and society and preventing 'moral decay'. Overall, however the New Right rejects the paternalism of One Nation Conservatives which was key in late C19th Conservatism under PMs such as Disraeli and a cornerstone of Conservative governments during the Post-War consensus (1951-1975)
