"We are going to need some more Chester on the channel" ... That is a DEEP rabbit hole! Chester has a back catalogue the length of all my arms and legs put together even if I come like Maa Kali. He has released music since around 1997 until quite recently, he has about 3 or 4 solo albums, a coupler mixtapes, then well over a decade of releases as part of the legendary Task Force (6 albums, a few EPs and a bunch of singles), plus various stuff he released as part of MUD Family and Bury Cru. It is so hard to recommend any one thing as, unlike Lowkey and co who tend to stay in 1 lane mostly, Chester has touched on almost every topic there is, from the fun & silly, to the trippy, to the educational, to the fantastical, to the sad, to the street stuff and everything beyond an in between. However, I highly recommend checking out Task Force's "Voice of the Great Outdoors" as an entry to their music, it's just an incredible album/EP from what I would consider the start of the UK's real golden age of Hip-Hop. "Intro" has Chester at his best, "Battlecats" is just a banger and "The Last Tune" is 1 of my personal favourites which often gets overlooked. However, the tune everyone knows off that album is the legendary "Cosmic Gypsies" and it included verses from Braintax and the legendary Jehst also (highly recommend you check out Jehst too by the way. Between Rhyme Asylum, Task Force and Jehst its hard to come up with anyone with a better pen game matched with an ability to make great music ... maybe Contact Play, Foreign Beggars and LDZ and their various members but its difficult to really argue against RA, Jehst and Task Force).

It's a biblical reference. The four horsemen of the apocalypse: plague, death, famine and war. Chester is from the era before Akala, Mic Righteous and Lowkey. I was still living in Portugal when Braintax and Rodney P collaborated with Micro (Portuguese group), and thanks to that collaboration a few more mcs from Low Life Records ended up collaborating with Micro, or on their solo projects as well as some other Mcs. That opened my doors to UK hiphop and I can say i was lucky to witness what I, a Portuguese, also call the UK Hip Hop Golden Era happening even if just for a few more years

This is basically a whole different scene from the reactions you've been doing so far. UK hip hop was there (as an underground scene) alongside the more popular Garage and Drum & Bass in the 90s then parallel to grime in the 00's and still bubbling away in the background after Drill has taken the limelight. It was generally a more lyric focused genre and had mostly been a "backpack" and/or b-boy type scene with mostly white (but not exclusively, a fair few black and other background artists too) city kids who grew up on New York Boom Bap and emulated that sound (also a sprinkling of white ghetto representation including from more regional cities outside London) while grime and drill generally being either more gritty and/or more popular and from a more Afro Carribbean / African or generally melting pot inner city communities. I imagine most of this scene is unknown in the states but I believe it's more popular in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Canada

Chester's great. He came out of North London with his crew Mud Family back in the late 90s when we were all listening to Wu-Tang; you can hear those kinds of esoteric themes and intricate wordplay that you'd get in say Wu-Tang Forever. He's definitely one of the best lyricists we've produced.

Been listening to Chester for 20+ years…Every now and then I jump on to check peoples reactions on him…I love seeing people flip out!! I know he looks like he’d fix your computer for you but he grew up in North London and has had some shit go down in his life that’s made him pretty streetwise as you can tell by his music!! Before rap and grime there was poetry it's been long forgotten but the alders remember it and how powerful it is. If it's mastered it's more effective then both. It's not about how fast he can rap it's about making a story. Only a handful of mcs can do this. Grime is more about bars not really telling a long story, rap can be a story but not every word rhymes. Can you watch akarla knowledge is power, its just as good as this if not better.

Strongly reccomend the authorship by chester P . Poor guys never found commercial success but that detracts nothing from those who know knowing him to be the greatest wordsmith to penn a phrase .. check out wickerman where every verse is a clever juxtaposition.
