But IF games are an active ingredient and we have to limit the access to it, then so are guns. You could be as crazy as you want if you can't buy a (semi) automatic gun, then you could not go out and kill 10-20-30 real people from a safe distance. (you know if you have a knife your killing radius is rather small, if you have an AK-47, your radius is the whole street). I just think, that shifting the blame on _anything_ and _everything_ but the unrestricted easy access to guns and ammunition is hypocritical to say the least. I think the right to live in an environment where you do not have to worry about that an idiot can walk into your kid's school anytime with a gun probably stronger than the right to provide any kind of weapon to everyone. (as a crazy example, why not have a nuclear warhead too? law abiding citizens would not destroy half a city with them, right?) That is why all current data on the matter is from private research institutions and activist groups, but the problem there is that politicians will pick and choose which ones they will listen to since they aren't from official sources. @@mauriciorodriguez2295 but a gun was designed for shooting. A car wasn't designed for hitting people, and even so cars and driving are pretty heavily regulated. There are lots of rules you have to follow on the road, you have to take a test to make sure you can drive safely, you can be pulled over if you are seen not following the rules even if no one is injured, and you have to be insured to drive. Knives have less restrictions but when I came to uni and realised I didn't have a kitchen knife and had to buy one, the cashier asked for my id so I could prove I was old enough and this was a dull knife where the blade is smaller than my hand. Yes there are bigger, sharper knives but it's also very difficult kill or injure lots of people before being stopped.

I want the shootings to decline but I don't believe limiting gun sales will help there are already one gun per person in the US. I am even okay with a 1-month waiting period for an assault still weapon but, they are very popular. they're useful and people should be able to purchase them. I am open to ideas but don't want to give up my liberty. So start there. Honestly I blame media coverage for the increase. You have psychologically ill individuals looking for attention and you're giving it to them.

It's not lack of faith. People get shot in Churches. Prayers are not bullet proof. Religion (or lack thereof) is a pretext, a scapegoat, just like videogames. It's the hatred, the fear, the paranoia instilled by wild conspiracy theories and propaganda. And it's facilitated by the gun lobbies, pushing for easy access to guns with large magazines of high-velocity ammunition that cause very heavy damage on impact. AR-15 bullets cause a ripple effect that tear nearby organs to shreds. Civilians shouldn't be given access to organ-liquefying weapons of mass death for "self-defense". It's not defensive if the person who gets hit has close to nonexistent chances of surviving their bullet wounds. And no matter how much artillery you're stacking, if one of those bullets hits you, you're pretty much organ stew.
