Japan has one of the highest concentration of people playing violent video games and they have one of the lowest gun crime rates in the world. To get an air rifle or shotgun (handguns and assault rifles are banned) you have to attend s whole day course, take an exam, get a shot accuracy if 95%, you have criminal records checks, mandatory mental health and drug testing and that is just to be allowed into a store to buy one. @@mauriciorodriguez2295 but a gun was designed for shooting. A car wasn't designed for hitting people, and even so cars and driving are pretty heavily regulated. There are lots of rules you have to follow on the road, you have to take a test to make sure you can drive safely, you can be pulled over if you are seen not following the rules even if no one is injured, and you have to be insured to drive. Knives have less restrictions but when I came to uni and realised I didn't have a kitchen knife and had to buy one, the cashier asked for my id so I could prove I was old enough and this was a dull knife where the blade is smaller than my hand. mityaboy-There are many video games that promote violence by killing on screen in graphic images. Certain video games encourage murder/shooting/killing and like guns these video games will be used by the mentally ill to promote their own inward hate. Don't try justifying these forms of entertainment as they have no redeeming value. If you are for gun control then you should also be for video game control.
@mityaboy46395 жыл бұрын
@@LAStreetPreacher I would not justify anything, but it is simple: if guns don't kill people, then videogames are not killing people either. We can't have a double standard as you pointing it out. But IF games are an active ingredient and we have to limit the access to it, then so are guns. You could be as crazy as you want if you can't buy a (semi) automatic gun, then you could not go out and kill 10-20-30 real people from a safe distance. (you know if you have a knife your killing radius is rather small, if you have an AK-47, your radius is the whole street). Am i against guns? - no i am not Am i against easy access? - probably Am i against uncontrolled access to unnecessary firepower in hands of civilians? - yes i am. i can understand without a question if you want to keep a small handgun at home for protecting your property, your loved ones. No issues. but an AR-15, AK or similar (or bigger) ones? what is the purpose? As much as i can understand we are not living in the middle of a zombie apocalypse where we need mass shooting powers as for video games: yes we *might* need to control them - but hear the difference (using AR-15 only because everyone can relate to it) - i have a crazy feeling that i want to kill 20 people AND i play this crazy videogame AND i have access to this AR-15 and ammunition --> i will go and do some real damage OR - i have a crazy feeling that i want to kill 20 people AND i play this crazy videogame BUT there is nothing i can use to DO it -> i will sit home and i will imagine the thing in my head. now let's remove the videogame - i have a crazy feeling that i want to kill 20 people AND i have access to this AR-15 and ammunition --> i will go and do some real damage OR - i have a crazy feeling that i want to kill 20 people BUT there is nothing i can use to DO it -> i will sit home and i will imagine the thing in my head. (IT IS oversimplified i know!) but adding or removing the videogames does not change the outcome - while removing the tool to execute the plan, makes it less easy to go around and kill 20 innocent kid in a school. I know if you are a hard believer that any guns should be freely accessible for anyone, i will not change your mind. That is not my plan either. I just think, that shifting the blame on _anything_ and _everything_ but the unrestricted easy access to guns and ammunition is hypocritical to say the least. I think the right to live in an environment where you do not have to worry about that an idiot can walk into your kid's school anytime with a gun probably stronger than the right to provide any kind of weapon to everyone. (as a crazy example, why not have a nuclear warhead too? law abiding citizens would not destroy half a city with them, right?) Please see my point, i am not against guns, but i am for those innocent kids / young adults who die (and will die) every year just because it is extreme easy to put your hand on a firearm. (not yours of course - i am not accusing you of any wrongdoing) And SH's idea of put there perimeters and guns and metal detectors are just makes me wonder that whether that man is really that insane or is this just another publicity stunt...

@@smulawyer The CDC is the only authority in the US that can review research and studies from a public health perspective in any kind of official capacity, and they have been effectively barred from looking at gun violence for decades because of the "Dickey amendment" saying that "none of the funds made available for injury prevention and control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) may be used to advocate or promote gun control". That is why all current data on the matter is from private research institutions and activist groups, but the problem there is that politicians will pick and choose which ones they will listen to since they aren't from official sources. Well news media is only supposed to inform us, providing any opinion on issues would make them either too liberal or too conservative.
@pbradley35295 жыл бұрын
I agree, though it's kind of always been that way, since a good bit often has a premise that dives into societal issues in a way that can make people rethink or see a problem in the way they thought about something.

Or a Family Feud style game with "what excuse will the come up with next" as the point. Just when you think this $hit cannot get more unreal, they blame video games. Yes, republicans, and rock & roll will corrupt is all. 🤬 (side note-my phone tried to capitalize republicans-HELL NO!)
