I loved playing with my cousins when they came to visit. It was especially fun the second time around. You never had to worry that they would abandon you forever, because they were family! Thanks for taking the next step to being an awesome dog MOM, Renee. I live it up a little through you and your dogs. Don't worry about Maxxie. His instincts tell him there is stranger on the premises that has not quite been introduced completely to the pack... but soon he will be having fun with the young one and showing him "the ropes" just like he did for Pollux. Maxxie is the wise elder and he shows the troops how to guard the castle. Dogs are very protective against danger and have strong territorial instincts. Thanks for your patience!

I used to look after a Bernese Mountain dog and they are the sweetest dogs especially around young children. Amazon has a dog collar that is rechargeable and every time the dog barks it vibrates. It does not hurt the dog. My sister has one and she says it’s been a game changer. Quiet in the house at last. May be worth a try if the barking is getting to you.

Don't all of us travel with a backpack filled with a packed lunch and our toys ? Maybe some snacks and treats too.... Max doesn't run as much as he gallops as a horse would. Could be in his DNA to tread more carefully in the best interest of self preservation, considering he's a mountain dog whose ancestors traversed all sorts of uneven terrain and high up sometimes, too. At first, Maxxie's barking seemed rather loud coming through my speakers.....and then I realized my next door neighbor's dog was barking at the same time ! 🤣
@@WelcomeToMyCurls ....Outside when one starts, they all join in. But my windows are still closed and so the exact timing of the neighbor's dog was just one of those things making it even funnier.

The yapping is why I’m a big dog person. Have pretty much always had big dogs, mostly boxers and labs. They’re not real yappy. Hubby grew up with small dogs, usually some breed of terrier or chihuahua mix. To me they’re just too yappy. But 17 years ago we got a mini rat terrier. He’s not a yapper. Never did much barking except to let us know someone was coming and then quit. He’d bark at squirrels when we’d get him psyched up before he went out but didn’t keep it up. Now that he’s so old he barks at nothing. Will howl if he thinks he’s been left alone. We did have one dog that wanted to bark at everything but we got this little device that the dog can hear and people can’t. We’d push the button when the dog barked and the sound it emitted eventually got the dog to stop when we pushed the button. Also tried a bark collar that didn’t shock but would spritz essential oil or something they weren’t fond of if they barked a lot. The Bernese is a gorgeous dog and he seems well behaved. A week of the serious playing they were doing and they’ll need a vacation to rest up afterwards.

Oh my goodness! I loved this video. I babysat a Bernese for 1 year. He was just a baby, and I had him until he turned 1 year old. They are so adorable and lovable. OMG - that Pollux boy is gonna wear that big boy out! Ha Ha Ha. Bernese tend to be followers rather than leaders. Oh man, I'm jealous. He will be the best house guest ever. Only downside, is that they shed a ton of fluff. I've never seen a dog shed as much as they do. Oh, and be very careful of him falling in that pool. They really do freak out, and are not the best swimmers. My boy fell in once when the thermal cover was on (blue bubble thing), and he kind of walked on that until I jumped in and got him, and a second time the pool was fully open and luckily my husband was in the pool and got him out. We don't have wide steps at the shallow end like the fancier pools. We have the stainless steel steps that get lowered in, and trust me, a dog cannot figure those out. So, just a word of caution. Enjoy.
