Would be nice to see how Nintendo decided to localize it. If they'll decide to do it, there's a high chance they'll ask Tomato, especially if we track back to the moment when Masked Man's spirit sprite was stolen from Internet(some guy hacked his console, found the .png, removed transparency and on left edge of sprite appeared part of another, fan-made sprite, making it clear that it was stolen and not at least downloaded from internet)

Mother 3 is the sequel to EarthBound. Its story is touching and heartbreaking and Nintendo never gave it a chance because EarthBound's initial sales numbers were so low. Mother 3 fans just want other people to experience the incredible story, but it's likely this will never happen. The lack of a release has become a gigantic meme.

You know that this comes from a song sung by Catherine Warwick called "Pollyanna/I Believe In You", and it comes from Mother 1/Earthbound Beginnings, and it's the music that plays the moment Ninten steps out of his house? He didn't make up these lyrics, it already existed. The only parts he made up were: "and Nintendo Switch Online has Mother 1 and Mother 2", and the original lines were: "and the time will surely come when you can see my point of view"

I feel like anything Japan-only from DS and older will never get localizations. Capcom ported the whole Ace Attorney series to iOS/Android, remaking older games in Unity. Gyakuten Kenji 2's mobile release is still Japan-only.

Can someone explain to me why people want a Mother 3 release so bad? I truly don't get it. You can already play the game really easily, for free, on real hardware or emulated on basically anything, with an immaculate translation. What's the big deal about it being out officially? Sure I understand being casually like "yeah it'd be nice to have it on my shelf" or whatever, but I don't understand the people who _desperately_ want it.

@@superhetoric To your first point: ok, but why? If I had really wanted to play Mother 3 as a kid, the moment a fan translation came out that desire would have subsided. At that point you've gotten what you wanted. Why do those kids grow up and continue to talk about an official release afterward? It's not just a meme, I see people desperately pleading for it in the comments of Nintendo Directs. It's clearly something people sincerely crave, and I don't get it. To your second point, sure, but I don't think that covers it. There's no way all these people are just collectors, and even if they are, it's really not that hard to import a Japanese cart of the game (maybe it's expensive, idrk, but if price is such a barrier why are you a collector anyway?).

I reckon it would put a proper spotlight on the series. No fan translation can amass the same amount of mainstream attention as an official one. And many people, for some reason, still view emulation as something like piracy, and don't want to even consider it. Others don't have even the basic computer knowledge needed to download, I dunno, RetroArch and a rom, but what they do have is a Switch. Honestly, even if emulation was directly taking money from Nintendo, I'd still encourage it, because Nintendo has done far more evil than good in the last decade, maybe more.

But yes there are people who are scared of emulation, or refuse to put in even the tiniest effort to go out of their way to play something that isn't on one of the usual distribution platforms. Hey man so I I'm commenting on this video because it's your most recent one so I think you're most likely to see it here, but I made a sort of paradox that I can't explain, and I was wondering if you can. What if I got 3 objects in an infinite void of nothing, not even cosmic background radiation, and put them in a straight line, then I accelerate the outer two at a speed above half the speed of light away from the the centre object? Reletive to the centre object, they are travelling slower than c, so no law is broken, but reletive to each other, they are moving faster than c, which seems impossible. Now what if while they travel I removed the centre object? Now the only thing they are moving reletive to is each other, and reletive to each other they are moving faster than the speed of light. Doesn't this break the laws of physics? What happens to the objects? Do they instantly slow down?

If I had to guess it's because the previously Japan only NSO games we're getting are things like Mario the Lost Levels or Puzzle games like Star Stacker or Puyo Puyo 2, things that don't require a lot of text to play effectively. Meanwhile Mother 3 or the Japan only Fire Emblem games are longer RPGs with a lot of text that an English audience without knowledge on how to read Japanese wouldn't understand, and thus they'd struggle to effectively play the game, leading to them not being brought over.
