How are you unclipping the airbag loom from the airbag please? I'm hoping to fit a newer steering wheel but the thought of pulling a wire from an airbag makes my ears ring

Yeahh haha it’s definitely disconcerting to begin with, although unless a charge current is sent the airbag will not go off, so you can rest assured that this is pretty safe. Just make sure to disconnect the battery to be extra safe. its just a little tab in the center that you pull up on the 6r wheel, and a plastic clip you ‘lift off’ on the 9n/3.

Haha nice one, yeah the mk7 golf wheel is basically impossible, way too much work to pursue. I did manage to get it working using an ibiza 6L wheel in one of my other vids though. Cheers!

i purchased mine used from facebook marketplace, however if you search “polo r line” or “scirocco” steering wheel on eBay you should get some similar results 👍

I also have the polo 9n3(model after yours) and id like to upgrade my steering to a newer one with the steering controls for volume etc. do you know if there is a special module/wiring for this conversion?

Hi bro. I’ve got the same car. Got a few questions. I’m looking to install a subwoofer into the car and need to find a grommet to route the positive cable from the bonnet to the boot. I can’t find any hole for me to route the cable into. Do I need to drill one? If so, where ideally?

I always just route mine through the rear washer hole in the passenger footwell, should be enough room if you push the gromet out.

Just wondering I have a polo 6r and I wanna buy a r line 6r steering wheel, would it be straight swap without changing the connectors? I know the airbag clock springs are different

Hi Mate, Cheers for watching! If you have a low spec car (foam steering wheel) the wheel would still need a new airbag to match the r-line one but should plug straight in once you have that. If you pop your airbag out, you will either see two plastic clips on the back or two metal ones. If you have the two metal ones then that'll fit the new wheel directly, if you see two plastic ones then you'll need a new airbag to go with the new wheel.
