FWIW, the traditional tracker method of doing swing is to alternate the tempo back and forth on each row. Typically this was done using the A effect, like going A05, A07, A05, A07, etc... but I think on this device it would be the T effect. Probably like T100, T140, T100, T140, etc. This effectively creates a global swing effect, but it eats up one of the effect channels in one of the tracks. At least it's easier than applying micro-timing to each note, though. Edit: Oops, someone in chat said the same thing at around 45:30. :)

In case this video is still watched nowadays: 1:04:00 One way to deal with triplets is to use the micro-move FX. In a 4/4 pattern, you'd put a HiHat on step 1 (no micro-move), on step 2 (micro-move 33) and step 3 (micro-move 67). That way, the HiHats are evenly spaced out over 4 steps. Yes, it's a bit tedious process (as opposed to for example on an MPC, where you simply quantize a recorded track with triplet or swing timing), but you only have to do it once for 4 steps and then you'd copy-paste the selection throughout the remaining pattern. When working with 3/4 or 6/8 rhythms, it is possible to change the 'pattern divider' from 4 to 6 in the config menu. So every 6th step is highlighted (of course you could use any other number as well and thus work with 5/4 beats, 7/8 beats or whatever).

throughout most of this video I was saying to myself (post livesteam) "hey, he should check out the config page I bet the pattern divider stuff is in there" and after about a FULL HOUR you finally did and it was there and it made me so happy lol. anyway thanks for this I think I am going to buy one

I'm genuinely fascinated by this device. I was pretty into Renoise for a couple of years, so I feel like this should be right up my alley, but at the same time, I can't help but wonder why I would buy this over a cheap laptop. Trackers were built around that PC interface anyway, so for someone familiar with that paradigm, I don't really see what this offers.

My very first sound software was Soundtracker on the Amiga 500, waaaaaaay back when lol. Seeing this device scroll it’s pages gave me some serious nostalgia chills, that’s for sure. So one question I have to ask is if it uses mono samples but my library is mostly 44.1 stereo, does it convert smaples to mono on the fly as it imports them to a project or do you need to pre convert to mono? EDIT: Polyend themsleves answered this question in the end. The answer is yes the samples are converted on the fly during import from the card.

Yeah was looking for that video! I'd like it the Polyend Tracker to evolve a bit more before thinking putting Renoise in the drawer. The real downside of swing is that it consume a FX channel, otherwise it's really simple to add: 16 step swing: use step 2 and fill with same micro-move value.

@bahutu802

The comment is old, so no idea if it still matters (just in case anyone else is reading): Yes, you can totally do that through the config menu, where you can choose from a multitude of different scales. + you can then adjust the spacing so to say between the pad rows, so that you still have octaves vertically.
