Youre one of person who keep inspired to become a polyglot whenever i saw you its make me wanna improve a lot. I'm indonesian, 19 years old, i can speak indonesian, malay, javanese. I'm learning english (intermediate), spanish (elementary), korean (beginner). I'll turn 20 in 2 days again, my goals is became fluent in each languages that i currently learned, being consisstant and can attend polyglot even like you somedays. Polyglot Conference is for everyone! You don't need to speak any other languages to join. It's just a gathering of people who love languages. No requirements otherwise :)

7:05 - That would be a very interesting topic to talk about in a video! I watch a lot of videos of "How did I learn English" and most people are extroverted, so they always suggest things like, just start speaking and practicing and so on, as a shy person, I would like to see examples of other people who share some traits of personality with me, but even so could achieve fluency in the languages they wanted to. I don't if I made myself clear enough, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on personality x language learning

I've come across your channel while looking for tips to use when learning several languages at the same time (I'm trying to decide if I want to add Swedish or Japanese to my language smørrebrød) and I love it. Thanks for devoting your time to this. It's also great to see how a good and friendly community revolves around languages and language-learning. One more reason to do learn languages :-)

Omg I also struggle with time and date words, and numbers. I'll remember some supposedly advanced stuff but forget how to say 50 or Thursday. I have to review those words sometimes, even after years in order to not forget completely. I also thought I was the only one. Thanks for this!

I struggle with time words and numbers too! I thought it was just in the only other language I was learning (French) but now I'm learning Arabic, Irish, and ASL and I struggle with numbers in all of them!

Hahaha I'm learning French and Arabic too and OMG numbers were always a huge deal for me. I'm fluent in English since 2012 or something and I still struggle with the days of the week sometimes *facepalm*

Maybe it has to do with the abstraction. Like, words as "house" or "man" are easy to learn in other languages because we can associate them with the image, we can imagine in our minds the house and the man. But numbers, it's a more complex concept and each language has it's own way of organizing them (not even gonna mention the 90's in French because oh my goodness who the hell invented that)

I've been wanting to go to a Polyglot Conference event since forever (it's basically become my version of Linguist Mecca) so it's kinda bitter sweet watching this. I'm not sure I could afford it though- how much does it cost (tickets, accommodation, travel etc.) on average to attend?

I still admire how common Japanese books are all written in vertical lines like in ancient Chinese while Chinese nowadays adopted the European horizontal writing style.It would be nicer if Chinese also kept the vertical writing until today.

I still struggle with numbers in Spanish! Especially sesenta vs setenta, dieci- vs venti-, quince vs cincuenta, catorce vs cuarenta, and seis vs siete. I’ll be having a normal conversation and the moment I have to say a number my brain is like wtf
