I have no problem with Dennis Rodman going on trips to NK. Heck, I'll even encourage it. Dennis has no resources, nothing to negotiate with, and isn't sent on behalf of the United States. Dennis Rodman is the embodiment of the cultural influence of America. Even in the hermit kingdom the power of the soft power of the US can be seen by leaders. The only thing Rodman can do is be cool, ask for favors (like releasing prisoners), and start the cornerstone foundation of diplomacy. The USA gets only benefits. As long as Rodman doesn't participate in taking resources in or out of NK, then what's the problem. He's a freeloading diplomat that's a third party between 2 warring states.

@Safwaan you can judge him as a person all you want, even in this video it says he chases the spot light. Removing the person from their actions, it's great. It could be Dennis, it could be Seth Rogan, it can even be Joe Rogan for all I care. But the idea of a person trying to make another nation understand differences is perfectly fine. Again, as long as Rodman doesn't participate in the corruption then I don't care.
@CryptidFlame

@Nospam Spamisham They may suffer yes, but is it right to automatically disregard anyone who has relations with them? Its not like Dennis is actively participating in creating their suffering. In fact, if he can help get US citizens released from NK and even extract some info, whats the problem? Esp since he has nth to offer besides positive PR for NK which is now moot since the US president himself has met with Kim
@politiekhistorie
@politiekhistorie 3 жыл бұрын
@@CryptidFlame although I think Rodman's relationship with Kim is a positive help voor the US and the West, Safwaan talks about North Korea as if stories about concentration camps and horrible conditions in general are made up. Both can be true. North Korea is a country that abuses it's population AND Rodman's visits and relationship with Kim can be helpful to gain influence and hopefully steer the country and region to a better end. I like this way much more than war like they did with Saddam Hussein (who also was a genocidal nut against the Kurds, something many people tend to forget, something I recognize while still being against the war in Iraq as the only solution) or Ghadaffi.
