I had this cane in my head for a week or so. Finally had time to execute it only to see the one major piece looked horrible when put in actual clay. Had to work around it but the cane still turned out pretty good.

Irene, love the cane - and the process! Have to agree that clay can take us in many directions - not always in ways that we’ve planned. So to us does life. I’m currently dying. My life was always spent on saving things for rainy days. For when my dear loving husband retired. How we would be living off of savings, money would be more limited. So I saved along the way. Money, beads and now clay. I’ve been a bead weaver for 2 decades. Cases and cases of Swarovski, gemstones and other beads. Having fallen out of our family car on the highway when I was 4 I’ve endured 6 decades of spinal problems. Ten spinal surgeries, my spine is now fused from pelvis to occipital. Two broken necks, halo collar and my neck in major (Aspen) collar and Halo for 16 1/2 months straight. Still, for sanity - I crafted. Now my neck is breaking for the 3rd time. This time they cannot fix it, there is no longer anywhere left in my spinal column for them to affix rods or screws. I’m now beginning to use my rainy day beads in my newest hobby however I will never even use 5% of my stash. What I’m trying to say is - don’t wait for that “perfect time” to do something special. Take that trip! Do those special things in life! Or use those 2 blocks of clay that may turn into scrap - or something really fantastic! Enjoy life while you can! You never know when that day will come when you can’t. Me? I’m fighting it as long as I can! But I’m grateful for all that I’ve had…

Never give up, and do you untill you no longer can. I myself learned the hard way also I lost my husband in April 2022. I was liveing in Germany for over 42 years, and now I returned to New York. My problem was all those nice things that I bought over the years I had to leave over there. SureI made lots of people happy with all my crafting supplies, but now I have nothing or very little left. Sure you can replace almost anything, but moveing from such a great distance cost a lot, and retirement as we all know has its benefit, but money galore is not one of them. I wish you health and happiness

Dear Lindagerman6807, I was in a terrible car accident, I was stopped at a red light, with 3 cars ahead of me. I looked in the rear view mirror, and saw the car speeding at me. I held down the brake so I wouldn't hit the car infront of me. Bad dissension! The guy was driving a Cadillac, or a Lincoln, doing around 45 to 50 mph. He said he just put eye drops in. We were on the job, doing a chip run. I was in my mid twenty, and had whip lash. After a half an hour, I got my first migraine, and I have had them ever since! I have had 2 surgery on my neck! The last one the Doctor had me go for therapy, and the guy rupture a new disk! I had 2 low back surgery! My husband and I said no to a third surgery. And two years ago, I broke my middle back, in a freak accident! I should be dead, but I guess the Lord God wants me to keep my sweet husband company! I am so blessed, you see my prayers were answered. God brought us together, he has seen how much pain I go through. You know, unbearable pain! I got to the point, I just couldn't stand it! He called our minister, and ask him to pray for me. Thank you Jesus, my neck pain is gone! It's a miracle, I thank our Father in heaven, thank you Jesus, and the Holy Ghost. Amen. I am praying for you, I pray that you will check out, thisisit4321be4thefire.com start with, You Are Exiles, and A Kingdom Divided.

oh yes! My husband just retired...what a difference. He has traveled for work since before I knew him. He'd be gone for weeks at a time and even a month here and there. Now...OMG he follows me around the house! If I'm in my sewing/quilting area, he sits down in the same room and just plays games on his phone. I'll go to the bedroom to get onto my laptop, he follows and watches a show on the tv. I can't seem to get away and be alone. The only place he won't go into is my workshop. But I can only be in there for so long. LOL. Just need to get used to him being home...all the time. I hope it doesn't take too long because I'm ready to hurt him! JK... Love this cane! And I love that blackout clay! I don't have to buy black so much any longer.

Irene, I love your take on life! You are totally correct, tomorrow is not promised. I LOVE polymer clay, and now, after leaving (finally) my abusive marriage of 44 years, I have so much more time to clay. Do what your heart tells you…and do what’s best for YOU.

Oh so fun to watch❣️ I do admire your courage to just go for it!! I had to laugh at the end, isn’t that just the way it goes sometimes 😆😂 The scraps turn out the best!! I actually liked the cane you made. I kept wondering how those would look for the tops of the cowboy boot cutters with black bottoms. I also thought when you put the four pieces together with none of them matching it did look like a brain cane. Loved the long video and being able to follow you all the way to the end. Thank you so much for letting us come along❤️🤍🖤

I have the same Lucy cutter that you have and I love mine. When I first started with polymer clay I was terrible at cutting my clay straight, I had a lot of waste. When I started using the Lucy cutter I had less waste. That really made me happy, because I could make more with my clay. 😁 It is great for cutting thin pieces of veneer. The spacer I use when the cutter is at the end is an old certs metal box. It works perfectly. ❤❤❤

Irene, happy belated thanksgiving. I just wanted to tell you after watching almost every video tutorial you have posted on KZbin, I LOVE YOUR WORK. I especially enjoy how you often design as you go. I find that following a plan May work for something's but creating art I believe it's best when it happens as you go. I am a retired 61 yr old in SC. I had done a lot work with Polymer for years but never tried caning, too intimidated. I also had my own home based cake shop and specialized in custom cakes and cake toppers for several years. Since I stop cakes I have been looking for a new craft and took up caning about a month ago and your videos helped me so much. Thank you for being so generous with your time and sharing with us. I'll keep watching and learning if you keep creating and sharing your skills. I just finished watching the kaleidoscope cane with a focal point video. I too love Donna Kato and I agree with you. I was so blown away with the cane you made. It was beautiful and you made it look easy. Thanks again and happy holidays Traci B ❤.

You’re making it way more complicated than you need to, you’ve made the comment before you don’t even make anything with the canes, so don’t stress yourself just put them on the site and sell them
