It's so sad that you wonderful artists need to do the disclaimers. People need to get a life and leave you guys alone. I'm so grateful that you share your wonderful talent with us. It's such a help and pleasure to watch you create. Hang in there Katie, you make awesome, educational videos and I hope you continue, as I enjoy watching.

Both are SO beautiful! I do have a question. Could you have put the bale between the layers of clay like you did with the pin? I love both yours and Samantha from Jessima Tutorials. ❤️❤️❤️

You can do that if u want just do whatever u prefer I prefer drilling holes and using a jump ring as to needing to always back or pinch bails just my preference tho

Hi Katie...I just found your channel a few days ago, I love it! Thank you so much for showing step by step. I love to listen to you thinking it through, I do a lot of talking to myself as I work also. I like that you have an idea in mind and just work through it on video, showing the thinking it out. Keep it up. I'm looking forward to new videos and going back to watch the older ones.

I just found you and totally love how you do your tutorials. However, stop defending yourself. Who cares what others think. Delete their comments and move on. I personally don't care if you did get the idea from someone else. You are definitely tweaking it and making it your own. YOU ROCK GIRL!!! Valerie 😉

Both pendants turned out beautifully! I really like the first one with the two layers, but after you buffed and added resin, I would have had a hard time putting the floral piece on because the marbled blue one was so pretty on its own! I also really love the alcohol ink pendant with the beads.

Hey Katie- awesome necklaces & ideas, I can't wait to try them out. Thank you so much for sharing it all with us. Question- you mentioned how you have up to a 10,000 grit in sandpaper, right? Well, I'm 1st wondering if you're referring to wet/dry sandpaper? I have never heard of it going up that high, or even close to that. So if you are talking about wet/dry paper, can I ask where you get them from, all of those really high grits? I only have it up to a 2500 grit & have no idea where to find anything higher than that but I would really love to try getting them, if possible. Thank you!

If you put plastic wrap over the piece then cut with the wrap in place, it will give nicer edges and stop the distortion.
@katiegordon610
@katiegordon610 3 жыл бұрын
It also bevels the edges which can make it harder to resin because it has a rounded edge

Hi Katie. I started with beaded jewelry and moved up into epoxy resin then UV resin and then into polymer clay with UV resin. I am new to your channel and I love listening to your thought process!! Your caning process is fantastic and your layering is awesome. I just ordered a pasta roller and embossing kit and more clay - as well as the translucent white to try my hand at my first cane. Can hardly wait for the supplies to get here. My family keeps asking when am I going to set up to sell my jewelry creations and as pretty as they are there are two reasons I am waiting - one: I am currently caring for my 2 disabled sisters (and their 4 dogs) and I’m also raising 3 of my young grandsons (for the past year and a half) until my daughter can finally have them back this summer. And two: I don’t think I’ve found the medium I can be the most creative in yet...until now!! I am currently retired at the age of 68 and as much as I love my little guys and will miss them tremendously - my house is filled with so much little boy stuff that I am overwhelmed!!! Once they are with their Mom again then I can get organized and get set up to sell. There is something so satisfying when someone admires your creation and would like one as well. I don’t do crafting just to sell - I do it for the love of being creative. Years ago - many many years ago...LOL - I used to belong to the “CRAFT OF THE MONTH” Club where I would spend my babysitting money and every month a small box would be delivered to my house with something new and different to make in it. I was born in 1951 so this was probably around 1963-1965 or so. And I was always delighted and excited to see what I would be creating - even way back then!! But you sweet girl have a true eye and talent for creating and I love the clay medium!! So many incredible possibilities and I just love learning from you!! Thank you so much for sharing your love of crafting and creating with us!! Your time, talent, cost and the making of each video is truly appreciated - at least by me and reading through the comments - by lots more!! So Thank you so much Miss Katie for sharing your crafting love 💕 These are just gorgeous❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️

The back looks great just as is. Is so t scrap clay? I ask because I thought it wasn’t a sold color. I like it with the beads up and down. Does that mean the pendant is diagonal? That veneer is so awesome!!! It looks great the way you hung it and the chain is perfect. What kind of chain is that?

i agree with duncan, no matter what the level of knowledge or ability to create, if you do not have that natural talent to teach, and you are unable to communicate that knowledge, then your talent stays with you and is not shared. you are able to share with others. that is a rare talent.=====this tut-----i had a vision of doing this but was unsure how to attempt it. thanks for the heads up on how to complete the vision i had in my head.

So did the lesser alcohol take away the shine any? Or was that just the camera making it seem so? And would 50% alcohol work also yo get the stickiness off of it?

Love your videos. First time watching you. Try to use a cotton ball instead of a baby wipe. I think it’s keeping it sticky. This resin reminds me of the UV nail polish, it is sticky until wiped with alcohol on cotton. Hope it works.

FYI Mokume Gani is an old Asian metal working technique. That may be hundred of years old. Polymer clay is a 20th century invention. I believe initially a plumber created it, and it grew from there.

Holy cow....you are working with this medium and haven't researched it? Polymer clay was created in the late 1930s.....It's only been available for the past 30 or 40 years! When you consider what the clay is made out of how could you possibly think it's been around a hundred or two years??? Self taught or not, you should always research and learn about the process you're learning and the medium you are using.
@katiegordon610
@katiegordon610 4 жыл бұрын
So as if u say it was created in the 1930s we r now in 2020 so almost 100 years techniques like metal leafing and mokume gane have been around for a long time maybe not on polymer clay but on other forms of medium. Why would I do all kinds of research on when each technique was created like long enough to think someone else somewhere has thought of it. Honestly I hardly have the time to make the damn project for the video after working all week then editing the thing what I say it the mist of a what I think of a conversation if I was off by 20 years oh get over it i was not alive in the 1930s and honestly don't care when it was created ita been a long time that was my point
