I post isolated parts on my channel for years now. I think it's very easy to hide mistakes or inaccurate playing with a backing track, and the guitar track itself has some magic to it when isolated
@lordssad39982 жыл бұрын
Great! I also liked the fact that you did a clean run of the solo at the end, without the backing track. I saw a lot covers where people just blast the backing track and you can barely hear the instrument they're playing.
@TeddyKish2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! I agree that this is pretty common, I always try to challenge myself to play something accurately without the backing track, as it drastically improves technique in the long run

Learned by ear or did you get the tabs ? It's scary how accurate it was, especially without backing track
@TeddyKish2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Zakaria! Actually, midway through learning this by ear, they released the tabs- so about the first half is by ear and the second is by the tabs. The music itself catches all of the nuances that the tabs can't, e.g. the little flutters/vibrato/special slides etc.. so when trying to replicate, even when I use tabs I listen very closely to the actual song

What pick do you use? Any tips for gaining speed too?
@justsomeguy7272 жыл бұрын
This is gonna sound real cliche, but you just gotta start slow and gradually build up speed over time. Practice stuff in chunks and work on each thing slowly. Then once you feel comfortable doing it slow, build up speed slightly and repeat that process on until you get it up to speed with the original tempo of the song you're playing. Luckily a lot of Polyphia's music is fun to play even if you're playing it slowly too so you don't have to worry too much about it ever feeling boring when learning slowly. Like I can only play the bridge section to Goose at like 60% speed but it's still really enjoyable to play at that speed. Then I'll try 70% once I feel more confident in how clean I sound at 60% speed.
@TeddyKish2 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I use some generic pick from my local guitar store, not anything special I agree with the comment from the guy above, play slowly and gradually build up speed. My opinion which may be unpopular is not to stick too hard to metronomes- I barely play with a metronome. I'd rather play the piece slowly and focus on every note being heard correctly in my playing (because every note matters!), and if I'm satisfied with how it sounds- then I increase the speed a little. Stick to these guidelines and you'll be alright:)
