I have this same stove and have to say that the wood time varies considerably due to many elements. If you have smaller or medium sized pieces of wood going at a good burn and create a good ember bed and then want to put a larger piece on for more duration, the transition time for it to light and get hot again can be quite great. We used this stove a couple of times after backpacking into remote areas in colder climates, rain and snow, and there really was no dry wood available, we had to find already downed wood that looked like it had been seasoned a bit and it still was a bit moist on the outside, we were able to make this work but this also affected our burn times and such. We only had access to pine and birch which aren't the densest of woods and on average for a good constant burn to keep up warm in near freezing conditions we were only able to get around a maximum of 30 min burn time. For me this was the biggest draw back as being in a hunting and foraging mode we are expending a lot of energy and wanting a good nights sleep. I do understand that it is a pretty small stove and burn times will be low, but my sleeping schedule was thrown off quite a bit having to tend the fire every 30 minutes or so. This can be different when you bring already seasoned high quality wood to your camp but in realistic backpacking situations i found the weight of my hot tent and wood stove would have been better spent in some 0 degree gear for sleeping a bit more comfortably. Anyone have a similar occurrence to this?

Great comparison. I saw an old timer demonstrate a great stove glass cleaning technique. He took a damp paper towel, dabbed it in the ashes and then wiped it on the glass, the ash has a mild abrasive effect and cleaned it up real easy 👍🏽🙏🏽

The mini is really nice. There's only one place I go where I may prefer the T-1 Original, because I've had the temperature go from frigid, to completely inhospitable. @@Lonewolfwildcamping Sure I did, thank you! Now I need to decide which hot stove to choose with the Hex Solo tent. I guess T1 mini is the best pick, but I am not sure which one and if with 3 windows would help to shine the tent and you basically won't need no or very little light, because I don't see other advantage. Also T1 MIni 3 is also out of stock right now. I am going to do my first purchase from Pomoly, but I am already decided to buy it from them, these tents and stoves look to be very good quality also thx to your reviews ;)

"Smaller hot tents"? This stove can heat a tent for 12 people in the extreme cold of -30º C. It is similar to the stove used by the unfortunate Russian hikers of the famous Dyatlov pass. The difference is that it is much lighter and more modern as it is made of titanium and glazed. In a confined area of a tent, heat builds up.

A nice alternative to the other Ti stoves out there. It's engineered well, its a knockdown stove (which in itself is novel for Ti stoves). If I didn't already have 2 stoves, I'd be sorely tempted to purchase this one but for the $525 CDN price tag.

Great stove. I’m considering a smaller stove because of my small tent. Lonnie at Far North Bushcraft and Survival is a old timer with a lot of experience. I’ve seen him clean the glass with warm water and ash from the stove. The ash is a mild abrasive that works with warm water on a cloth or paper towel to clean without scratching. Good for you getting to test these products and thanks for the info

Ok so I bought the 3W stove from Luxe a while back and admittedly, I like it. BUT it is a royal pain to set up and it’s really frustrating at times to use. I just bought the T1 Mini and it arrived today and there are four immense quality differences in seeing in the T1: It is hinged so I don’t have to fit heat warped panels together, the damper is a singular unit that is rigid and strong (my other isn’t strong and causes the chimney to flex and bend), the spark arrester is a chimney cap that I can attach guy lines to for added stability, and the thicker titanium will definitely translate to less warped panels. I’m soooooo excited to use this thing. Truthfully, I’ll prob order the actual pipes so I dont have to roll out the chimney but that’s not a huge priority. One tip I’ll share for people getting into hot tents: I’ve started using those grocery store Duraflame logs in my stove for overnight heat because they burn for a really long time. I can usually get a comfortable nights sleep by burning two Duraflame logs that last 3-4 hours depending on the setting I keep the damper and air flow on. Definitely see the quality here!!!!!!!

Your product education has had a huge impact on me. Due to your videos I have bought a T- Brick Max and a Yarn Plus tent. I tested this gear in the Cascade mountains last week. It preformed flawlessly. Even with two full nights of rain. I did notice the weight of the T-Brick max it too heavy for solo hiking (ok for 2 or 3 people). I decided to get a T-1 mini (2021). Do you have a link comparing the T-1 mini vs. with your TIMBER Wolf mini stove? I see slight differences. but still lack knowledge on this purchase. Thanks

Just thinking about purchasing a nested/nesting pipe , i would weight a bit more but i want something more stable sturdy that wouldn´t fail , bend or collapse due to the wind or an accident... Also similar packed size (just a bit more weight ) but not rolling needed. Now, i´m just looking for that nested/nesting pipes at the same diameter at the base and 30 cm in lenght sections aprox. I apreciate any info or help to find that pipe. I´m now in Europe ! Thanks!

That mini stove would be just the ticket for the smaller OneTigris Tipis and the smaller Pomoly shelters that you have. No need taking a bigger stove than you need for the conditions. Granted you can always build a smaller fire in the larger stove, but really, who is going to be mindful to do that.

Loaded up and the dampers nearly shut how long do you think it would keep lit? 2 hours seem reasonable?
@Lonewolfwildcamping

Yes, 2 hrs is obtainable. However I would not completely shut the pipe damper or the front vent. Dialing it down to a slow burn is the best method

Thanks for the video. I'm still researching this big purchase. Hiding $400+ purchase from the wife is problematic. Question: Do you thing placing a grill (I have an expedition research bushcraft grill) on the bottom under your fuel would increase the stoves efficiency? Might increase air flow /draft. Just a thought. Might just pull the trigger on this to use in My polish lavvu.

Its a great investment, the stoves burn so efficiently as they are now and do not require a bottom grate

Does the T1 mini put off enough heat to sit by in the open as a "fire pit"? I like the small size for a lavvu hot tent and maybe for sitting next to outside at home, but am tempted toward the T1 to double as a grill.

It puts out alot of heat

What would you say is the longevity of these lightweight stoves, I am known to go winter camping for months at a time,(9 months once), Would this do well for an entire Canadian winter?

Hi ! Do you think that mini stove is possible for 2 person in a tent like the PEN from pomoly or it’s not gonna be enough ? For temperatures that rarely goes above -5. Thank you very much for your reviews they are the best ones about this stove !

Did you use the T1 Mini with Smokey Hut? I am thinking the T1 Mini will be the right hot tent stove for me. Questions: How cold outside? too hot inside? how long did it burn after damping down?

T1 mini is a great option for small hot tents, and it can get very hot inside

I have to ask. With the hex tent, would you recommend getting the T1 or the T1 mini? Thanks
@Lonewolfwildcamping
@Lonewolfwildcamping 3 жыл бұрын
Both will heat the tent no problem , but they will have different loading cycles and different cooking platform sizes

Just ordered mini stove. Thank you for review and videos. I would like to order a nested stove pipe set for easy setup. Have you ever tried this route?

Thats awsome, the stove pipe it comes with works fine, no need to modify it

Hi ! thanks for sharing . Same opinion here! I think the T1 Mini is going to be my choice, but i dont like that pipe, looks flimsy and weak... Just thinking about purchasing a nested/nesting pipe , i would weight a bit more but i want something more stable and sturdy that wouldn´t fail , bend or collapse due to the wind, tansport or an accident... Also similar packed size (just a bit more weight ) but not rolling needed. Now, i´m just looking for that nested/nesting pipes at the same diameter at the base and 30 cm in lenght sections aprox. I apreciate any info or help to find that pipe. I´m now in Europe. Happy to find someone with the same idea or point of view!
