can you add more tension by adding another wheel for just the line to ride in the middle that would pull some of the slack off and stop the jumping when you first go to use it

I don’t think tension is the issue. Even if I leave tension on the cables it still does it. I think it’s because it hangs down to straight so it kind of pops when it opens it if that makes sense
