I really love how you guys always look out for the wildlife in the ponds; even the ones on such poor state as this one. Something like tadpoles could be so easy to overlook but it's so beautiful to see that extra bit of effort to ensure they're safe and happy at the end too!

It’s a big thing for us. We make sure that every product we use is safe for the wildlife and we always improve the ecosystem of the pond and the surrounding areas. Sometimes it takes us longer to complete a job compared to other companies but if it means that we don’t harm any wildlife then it is worthwhile

My first garden pond was a recycle bathtub with a waterfall. It was my serenity garden. I bought a pre formed pond liner and waterfall, my son enlarged and shaped the hole. And that is where it sits, unfinished for over 20 years. I so need water in my garden, but health issues and age prevent me from completing it, and it's not a priority on my sons list. thank you for sharing the beauty and serenity of a garden pond.

I love having these videos to fall asleep to, so relaxing! A little note, try not to touch frogs/ tadpoles with your bare hands, if possible. They have a semi-permeable membrane which absorbs oxygen from water through their skin. Essentially, skin = lungs. Unfortunately, this means they can absorb just about anything. Things like salts, soaps, oils, soil & lotions from our hands can irritate their skin badly or cause death in worse cases. Excited for future videos! 💕🐸

So glad you are enjoying the videos 🙂 Yes you are correct with amphibians skin and being careful with touching. We did use gloves or just the net when removing them from the pond but I guess after the all the work was done we were a bit slack and not as careful. I’d also add that you need to make sure whatever is touching them is also wet as well

Nice job but not sure on depth of deepest part but for fish to survuve the winter it needs to be at least 2 foot deep or more as it will freeze badly and any fish will stuggle to survuve .

Nice video man :) just a point someone gave me. Make sure not to leave pump right at the bottom of the pond so it can drain all the water in the pond if there is an issue with the pipes etc. Raise pump up slightly.

i second this. had plumbing break due to dumb design of previous owner. i'd lifted pump up because it was getting stopped up with debris and ran better raised a bit. kept my fish alive because it couldn't drain all the way down. (have since built a new pump and bypassed his stupid janky wtf build and that plumbing. a big blue barrel with K1 media. also added a valve to easily flush out water for water changes. made my life WAY easier. previous tenant was moving the bricks of the sidewall to let water spill out for the change. was a pain.)

the shallowness was probaply a reason too why there was no fisch XD they need to hise at athe bottom sometimes but if the bottom isnt that deep well

Yes, but the reason it wasn’t so deep was because the pond was leaking. We have made it deeper now also

Is it ok to leave the liner exposed to the sun above the water level?

The water was still filling. It will be up to the brickwork once full. It is not ideal to leave liner exposed you are right. It means it won’t last as many years as it’s supposed to

Hey @mountain_Aquatics. I have a small 500 liter pond but have been struggeling with algea since the beginning (2 years now) I have very good filtration (2500l/h) and flow and a hillstream for airation. Do you have any advise to combat these algea (with me its mostly string algea)

So usually a good UV will combat the single cell floating algae but string algae is a multi cell so isn’t treated the same way. You can manually remove it but you need to solve why it’s growing in the first place. The reason it is growing is because it’s getting enough nutrients and sunlight to grow. Can you shade the pond? Using Lilly’s or surface covering plants is good. Can you improve the filtration? Are you over feeding the fish (if you have any) water flow and oxygen levels help as well. If you plant more aquatic plants then they will use the nutrients that the algae needs so you can combat it that way. Hopefully some of those suggestions help 👍🏻

i had same issue. you need plants to cover surface / shade, plus use up nutrients. and less feeding if unused food is accumulating. PLUS filter might not be enough. you need a lot of beneficial bacteria to use up the stuff before the algae gets to it. (if you build a filter out of a barrel and put K1 media, this creates a TON of space for beneficial bacteria to colonize which can improve clarity, reduce water changes, and cut back that algae.) some people advocate having stone and pebbles on bottom for beneficial bacteria to colonize. hope you work it out! good luck!

@@lurklingX thanx for the tip mate. I started the season by cleaning out the whole tub (saving 50% water to refill) and creating more shade with plants and a beachumbrella. Having way less issues this year. Also started doing waterchanges more regularly which i thing makes a big difference.

@@Mountain_Aquatics just trying to determine what size pond you get out of the assorted liner sizes one can purchase. id hate to buy one that was too small and have to backfill, and likewise, buying one too large and cutting a lot of it off is just a waste of material. thanks for the reply though
