There needs to be pokemon difficulties. Easy: holds your hand at the start of the game but later on, trainers get a bit smarter. Champion levels are 60 Medium: Average pokemon game, rival picks the stronger starter. Champion levels are 70 Hard: trainers are smarter and will switch out pokemon when up against pokemon that would be a danger to them and for every pokemon on put on your team they will have at least that many pokemon (even if you take them off, if three different pokemon have ever been in your party, Other trainers will have three or more pokemon) . Champion levels are 85-90 Master: EV trained pokemon, held items, potions/revives, and good movesets are used by *ALL* trainers. Champion levels are 100

Pokemon _used_ to have a difficulty setting. It was called "exp share" which turned from a held item that only worked on the equipped pokemon into a key item for your whole team that you could turn on and off. Now it just defaults to very easy mode where even _catching_ pokemon gives your entire team exp and you can't turn that or the shared exp off, at all.

I just miss competent rivals. I don't even mind that they pick the starter with the type disadvantage as long as they have a solid and creative team to cover their bases. Hugh in B2W2 was the last rival that was hard to beat and that's because he had a flygon and an eelektross. Do you know how long it takes to evolve those two?? Mad respect. And rivals should have a full team much, much sooner. In a lot of rom hacks you have rivals with 6 team members before you reach the 3rd gym and it doesn't make the games unplayable.

Galar has ault forms. Last gen they added a thing where a few Pokemon changed in other areas over time and they did the idea again. Galar is home to more Pokemon that evolved to become new types as the area they are in made them evolve differently than the other counterpart. Think of it like living in a new area gave them new traits needed to not die out. It makes the split off forms more of a cousin of the main branch.

Ok, so what I'm getting is that he doesn't know what regional variants are and he doesn't know pokemon can be two types because Morgrem is a Dark Fairy type and Galarian Weezing is Poison Fairy. Also, Gardievor is Psychic Fairy, not grass.

When they introduced fairy, the first new type ever I think, they either had to make 40ish whole new pokemon with the type or make some new ones and make older pokemon also fairy where it made sense. Clefairy for example obviously has to be fairy and normal if fairy is going to exist. Morgroem is a gen5 I think
