I read a compelling fan theory about why Orsino becomes an abomination regardless of your choices. The theory is that Hawke found the correspondence that Orsino had with the blood mage that killed his mother and goes apeshit and kills him (Which is completely understandable), and Varric being an unreliable narrator makes the abomination shit up to cover for hawke

I think people forget BioWare was rushed to make dragon age 2, and say the whole game is bad based on the fact they reuse locations and some of the plots are a bit rushed. But surprise you can blame EA for that

the pact breaking dad choice is so prescriptive of the game. seemingly hard decision that actually just lets you have the best of both worlds for 0 extra effort if you want it. i love skill checks that have a dialogue option to sidestep the check directly below. i love this game so much but they really tried their best to mar its core mechanics in the name of "accessibility"
