Years ago there was a local that ran 10’s with a 64 Nova using an inline 6. Mechanical knowledge and skill.

Nope that's OK, no need to be sorry, I love that you are sharing the good times running you're little 60's Pontiac down the strip. I love the sound and your video shares the thrill of a quick trip down the strip. I absolutely LOVE the 60's cars it was such a cool time and the cars had so much style and character, I don't care that a Tesla EV is quicker, it will NEVER have the cool and character that this Pontiac has. Cheers thanks for sharing.

One of the most overlooked aspects is most of the 301 cars came with brutal granny gears. You weren't getting it to rev no matter what you did.

Yeah, my 4.10s really help it.

I am genuinely curious how, and what, if any, steps were taken to mitigate some of the 301's Internet weaknesses. Because this is damn impressive!
@PontiacRaysGarage4 ай бұрын
Thank you. It's surprisingly simple. I'm using a stock crank, stock block, but I did adapt small block chevy forged rods and forged pistons. I also used ARP main bolts, which I adapted as well. That's it. It just recently went on the dyno, and survived, revving to 6500 a number of times and past 5000 rpm a bunch. That video is coming soon.
@josephvahabzadeh12894 ай бұрын
@@PontiacRaysGarage Dang, I would've never imagined the stock crank would put up with that. What about the heads? Isn't there something wacky with the intake, trying to go by memory here, but, like the center two intake ports are just a single big opening, or something like that? EDIT: ok, looking closer (trying to squint on my phone) those definitely aren't factory heads!
@PontiacRaysGarage4 ай бұрын
@@josephvahabzadeh1289 I'm using aftermarket aluminum heads from Kauffman Racing. I also narrowed a traditional Pontiac manifold from Wenzler Engineering. I just got it off the dyno, and all I can say is this is making over double the factory horsepower to the wheels. Stay tuned.

Had a 301 in a 78 Grand Prix. Had it rebuilt and mildly modified but it was actually pretty quick at the time. What has all been done to this one?
@PontiacRaysGarage5 ай бұрын
Sounds cool. This one has a hydraulic flat tappet .520 lift cam, 9.2:1 compression, aluminum Kauffman heads, and an 850 carburetor.
