I used SuperChips Cortex for the first couple years then moved to a custom tune from Pat G.

How much did you reduce torque management? I’m getting a dyno tune on my bolt on G8 GT soon and I want to reduce it but I don’t want to put too much stress on the transmission.

@@pontiacmaniac7772 negative. I added a deeper Camaro trans pan several years ago to hold more fluid and never had any issues. If/when i ever do a cam, I will add a trans cooler.

Local dyno tuner would be best. Pat G or Rick Crawford for remote tunes. You log information as you drive and send them updates over the email and they adjust your tune to your driving habits or your specifications.

Nothing can beat a good custom tune. Don’t waste money on expensive Pat G tunes where you pay for the name and not what you get. Others like Rick Crawford and Adam Cooper are much much better.

I would see if there is a shop that buys used catalytic converters in your area.

+Chad Wells I believe superchips discontinued the Vivid linq but they do have tuners for the G8 with the same tunes as mine. I'm running a 91 tune on mine.

Would you ever consider buying a Chevy SS and keeping it in the garage next to the Pontiac G8 GT you have?

You know I was just thinking about that last night, I think I would keep the g8 and use the SS as a daily and mod the G8 like crazy but that's in a perfect world.

Yeah because the engine runs as a V8 all the time. So the lifters aren’t changing the motor to 4 cylinder mode.
