It never ceases to amaze me the amount of history that can be found at almost every turn. If it wasn't the Pony Express, it was the railroad. If it wasn't the railroad, it was the trappers and explorers. It's almost too much to comprehend, especially the distances involved. Thanks for taking us all on your adventures!

I've loved every minute of this Pony Express series, as you're well aware. What great history from such a short-lived, blink of an eye business venture. Hopefully, you read the Emigrant diary entry at 33m25s. Though I search them out, it's always a joy to find random ones in the middle of absolutely nowhere.

I liked it when I saw you having your coffee in the morning looking out and see the scenery and what not. I remember those days when I was younger and doing the same thing. That was my peaceful time watching nature and the scenery and any wildlife. I loved that and I miss it. Loved seeing the clouds and the blue sky. I hope you all weren't near any flash flood areas, like Arizona, Nevada, and California. We all got hit in our little town. Land locked in. We have 3 roads in as you know, because you went to Oatman, AZ. They no sooner clean the roads and a storm hit again locking us in. But all is well for now. Love the scenery. Can't believe it was snowing. Amazing. Thank you for sharing the information and for showing some amazing scenery. You all look like you lost weight, hope all is well. Stay health and well, be safe out there and God Bless. Sorry I babbled on.😊❤💯👍🙂

Whey is the leftover juice after making butter. It’s very sweet tasting and I love it! If you want to make your own butter, get some heavy whipping cream and freeze it to shorten the process. It’s better to do this in a glass jar. Let thaw so the cream slides easily and with a lid on jar start an up and down motion vigorously. In five minutes or so you will see a clump of butter forming. Continue until the yellow clump of butter is formed. The juice leftover in the jar is the whey and again is very sweet tasting. We used to make our own butter in Alaska. Loved it! Food for thought.

Why was it called the pony express when they rode horses?? 🤔 It’s amazing how much of the trail is still there and you can actually drive it! I wonder what the riders would think about a cellphone that can instantly text and Email anywhere in the world?? The trail was laid out so good that a lot of modern highways followed it because it followed ridges for drainage to keep flooding and mud to a minimum!! A train can’t pull more than a ten percent grade and most of the trail wasn’t more than this!! Amazing !!
@PinInTheAtlas2 жыл бұрын
Maybe because the Morgan and Mustang horses they used were only about 14 hands so looked more like ponies! Just a guess. Plus it rolls off the tongue better! This is a good video. Not my favorite because all your videos are good! My favorite part of this one the scene where Steve is standing in a field looking out and the rain in the distance and the sccompanying music track. That is what my "corner" of the world looks like. Very peaceful. When Andrea mentioned swift justice Steve says "something we're missing greatly these days." Members of an anarchist group that was involved in all violent mayhem in the streets just a short while back came up here to terrorized the towns people and swiftly got turned around. People up here are not going to put up with crap. That is how criminal mayhem ought to be handled, by the people. We here have laws that enumerate how to handle criminals. Aside of that, the town of Echo kinda looks like Concho AZ. Echo looks quite a bit larger, but the scenary is similar with hills and just being in a nowhere location. I did not favor the big city scene as I favor tall trees rather than tall buildings. I do not favor peoplely cities, too many people and as you stated, idiot drivers. I enjoyed all the peaceful places you visited. Those places are a good education too! There is so much history to learn about my own country and it's various cultures. CHEERIO!!
@PinInTheAtlas2 жыл бұрын
Couldn’t agree more about all of that. We love the peace, quiet and many layers of history those old lonely corners of our country hold. Our favourite thing to do while traversing those old dusty trails on the footprints of our forefathers is try to place ourselves in their shoes and their train of thought while searching for a better life.
