NOTE: The cue in this video has already been given away and Robbie was the winner! You can see Robbie using his new cue here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6qwk4erh7Wrapo At 4:23, of this video, you hear me mention about a transport case that WAS used when cues are purchased. That hard transport case is no longer being used. Instead, the cues are packaged in a soft transport sleeve.

@@philipchang4453 I use to play with a medium tip for the longest time, but when I started using a soft tip I liked the hit, sound, and feel so much better. However, I don’t really see a difference in performance.

Remember when u little and bought new shoes..? First thing u did was take off running cause for some reason you think you can run faster..lol. This is the adult version of that.. Try a new cue and you suddenly can shoot lights out.. Never missing a ball.. Till you miss a ball then your "new cue powers" have faded away...lol

I am the proud owner of an original Pointer cue. Don't quote me, but I was told that they were one of the early entrants into the alternate-materials shafts market. They made their shafts from maple, wrapped in Kevlar (the same material used to make bullet- proof vest). The story goes that they were, perhaps, a bit ahead of their time and didn't sell very well. Supposedly their original patent was the basis for the Cuetech processs of wrapping maple shafts in fiberglass. As you have noted on your videos, its all about personal preference. I have been wanting to try a carbon fiber shaft, and am happy to see that they're pricing is finally coming more into the range of us "enthusiasts" level players who are looking to improve our level of equipment. Thanks for the information you impart. I am a proud subscriber.

Even with the close up shots, you can’t tell that they are decals, so not sure why people would get upset over that small detail. Everyone has an opinion about their favorite CF shaft, but there doesn’t seem to be a clear favorite so there’s no real need to spend the extra money if the cheaper one does the same job! Great video Chris!

Great review as always. I'm 76 and been playing pool since i was 16. You would think I know a lot about pool. But, when ever I watch one of your videos I nearly always learn something that I can go and practice. I've always used a 12mm tip because I'm a english lover and like the action I get with a smaller tip. the Flowers Cue seems like a really good deal especially with the CF shaft. I checked the deflection on my cue and was aghast, I've had the same cue for many years and your review has made me take a second look at buying a new cue stick. Thanks so much for the tips your videos always show. Please keep it up.

I am a 7 handicap in APA 8 ball with an 80% win percentage, and I play with a 19 oz. Bob Meucci custom (BMC) Pro Series 3, that was hand made by Bob Meucci and signed by him. The cue cost $600 and it has the 12mm pro taper zero deflection shaft, and the optional shaft is the 11mm UW shaft, stands for ultimate Weapon, that cost an extra $240. I have been playing pool for 35 years and it is the best cue I ever had, I love it, the balance and the feel is perfect. Now if you want the fancy version with all the mother of pearl inlays you can get the BMC pro series 5 for about $950. Jayson Shaw plays with a cue just like it, but his has $5k worth of options on it. They are the same cue, Shaw just had his made with more designs and more inlays.

I've been shooting pool for a very long time. I recently purchased a Low deflection shaft for my Pechauer Cue. It's 11.75mm, and I'm used to a 13mm. So I know what you mean when you say you can "feel" the difference. All that being said, I like the LD Shaft, but it is taking me time to acclimate to it because of it's diameter. A friend let me use his Pechauer Carbon Fiber Shaft that is 12.5mm and I was immediately in love. BUT, I just spent the money on the LD Shaft recently and there is no way the wife will go for a purchase of $400+ right after I bought the last shaft. Winning this cue would allow me to get into using a CF Shaft while I save my pennies for the Pechauer CF Shaft. I enjoyed the review and the breakdown of the essential information about this playing cue. I honestly don't think you need to change the format going forward. Visually speaking, you could do a closer up view of the cues "Inlays"/"overlays", so that the details are more visible to the viewer. Cheers

This was a very nice review Chris! Beautifully done Break and run, I really liked your break, you broke solid with a medium, not too hard hit, because you played with a magic rack, the wing ball went right in, and the balls spread apart nicely, with a wide open table. My favorite shot of the rack, was when you shot the 5 ball and stunned over to the short rail, with stun and a little left, to come down for the 6, you had very good speed control, not hitting it too hard. Keep making awesome videos, John

Nice review Chris, Ive been waiting for a reputable review video on the Jflowers company since there aren't many videos on them. I was personally looking at their break cue that of course comes with the carbon fiber shaft but there are no videos on it. For the price it seems well worth it just simply because of the carbon shaft but I cant help but to wonder how good it'll actually break. Maybe a future review video!

Major reason why the decal doesn't matter at all: just get this cue, then save up a hundred bucks or so for a nice cue with a broken shaft or just a butt, and you'll still be in the decent quality CF range for under 400 bucks, and it would play close to as good as, if not flat out as good as my customized Lucasi with a GO Customs 10mm shaft. Really the only reason why someone shouldn't start with a cue like this is if 300 is out of reach for them, which there's nothing wrong with that, you could probably find these things used on ebay and CF doesn't warp so the worst you'd be out is a tip replacement. I'm really liking the accessability of CF cues lately, you shouldn't have to drop so much money on a cue that is the same technology as a fishing pole.

The first cue that I bought (20 years ago) as a novice player was based on how "cool" it looked. It was quite heavy with a wooden drive shaft. Very decent cue but very heavy. A good informational video like this one would most definitely have directed me toward a different choice. Good review! Clear explanation - Thank you!

One more aspect that could affect the amount that the cue deflects is how strong you hit the cue ball. So it is important to try and run all those tests with the same amount of power.
@CueListings
@CueListings 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are 100% right. That's why the "tests" we do online are currently to be considered as guidelines and not the definitive answer. As of today, there are not standardized testing methods, unfortunately. I am experimenting with AI to measure the deflection. That will be the closest thing to a scientific test so far. As you can see in this video, I'm using 3 different shafts and the results are stunningly even. I had pretty much the same speed and stroke on all 3 shots. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2mtdYmaZaegoLM

I agree the overlay feature is less appealing than an inlaid cue. The design is just a little flashy, but I wonder if the shaft fits other cues. It looks like the pin is a modified (FT) 3/8 10 , which provides more surface contact within the threads than a regular 3/8 10. I play with a 12.75 jacoby hybrid shaft, so 12.5 wouldn’t be too hard to get used to. Definitely appears to be a solid setup, thank you for the review!

As long as the but is straight and fits the carbon shaft, it really does not matter its quality; but it looks like it does have a nice leather wrap. BTW, it sounded good on the cue ball hits.

I like the idea of cue reviews. Any good player knows that you have to play with a cue to see how it feels for you. But also, you as a higher skill have insight that low skill players may not have. I'm an APA 3 3. So this kind of review really helps me know what to look for. I've purchased 2 main cues since I started back in the spring session. I have a players with like an 11mm medium tiger tip. And my current playing cue is a cuetec avid. 12.5. I had the tip changed to a ss kamui black. Looking forward to more reviews of equipment.

I have actually been looking into the JFowers Cues a while. It seems to be a very good cue for the money, especially since it comes with a Carbon Fiber Shaft. I actually don't care for the expensive Revo Carbon Fiber shaft from Predator. I didn't like the "tingy hit" it had. as an analogy, it's like hitting a baseball with an aluminum bat instead of a wood bat. Carbon Fiber cues have become very popular, but the thing is, it doesn't automatically make a player a better player like some people believe. I saw one person in the pool hall where I play in the San Diego, CA area with one, and he said he liked it very much. To me it seems like a very good cue at a very reasonable price. Plus I think that the various designs are very beautiful! I know that they are "decal" cues, and that is also why they are less than actual inlay cues, but what matter to me is the hit, period!

I shoot a Z3 and have wanted to upgrade to a carbon fiber shaft. Nice clean run out near the end of the video!

I have enjoyed your videos immensely for some time now. I have been using a Huebler cue for over 30 years. I love the way it feels, but I would truly love to see how a carbon-fiber cue plays. I'm not willing to spend the huge amount for the better name cues, but this one may be a good choice. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into these videos.

It's good to see to have a low price carbon fiber shaft on the market and it's play well, so an average play can play with good stuff. Good video Chris!

Thanks for the video. Your explanation on everything you do and letting us know why it was possibly off because of how it was hit is great. Have been watching your videos for a long time and love how you help teach the way it should be taught. Not necessarily the book way but in a way is simple and direct to the lesson

Awesome review. I’m just now in the market for a better cue as I feel my game would improve by using a quality cue. It’s overwhelming for sure with the choices out there. I wish there was a place I could actually go to and shoot with some of the cues, it would help in the decision making process for sure. Again, great review and I look forward to more of them.

I guess it depends on the cue you are looking at and what your location is. I know JFlowers have a shop in Jacksonville, FL now.

This is a very good cue for the price, and I don't mind "fake" inlays as it would probably cost much more to make real inlays. Test was really good as it showed all important characteristics of the cue. And it was very impressive to see how quickly you adapted to a new cue. I think that shows level of your skill and also the quality of the cue.
