Thank you so much for showing the real struggle with stuff, like taking the hose coming off, most ppl just skip or cut the video not show the struggle, so thank you, it's not always easy peasy

My Power Flo Matrix lasted about 3 years...& that's in NC. The seal broke which separates the pump from the motor & slowly compromised the motor housing & corroded the motor (salt water pool)...Little disappointing...luckily, my wife works for Hayward...This clarified things a lot. Thanks much!!!

Thanks for this video. Just got anew PowerFlo Matrix pump and I wanted to move my discharge from vertical to horizontal, but couldn't depress the button with my fingers and thought something must be wrong.....can't possibly be called a button and you can't depress it. I contacted Hayward Customer Service----what a joke, a sorry excuse for Customer Service. With exactly no help there I thought to check You Tube and found this video. Life saver! Very well done and 100% clear. Than you!!!

When you install the clear vinyl hose that goes between the pump and filter use some plumbers grease. It will slide on with ease

Thank you for the great video/instruction!! I inherited one of these and I’m trying to figure out how to use it. Do you know how much sand Im supposed to put in the tank?
@SilverLiningDayDreams Жыл бұрын
Your welcome! I believe ours takes four bags of the silica type sand. Yours may be different. Does your filter still have a make and model# on it? If so you can Google it. You want to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. Maybe you can pull the old sand out and guesstimate same amount to put back in if you’re unable to locate the specifications. You got this ! 😊

What do you mean prime the pump before turning it on for the first time? Thanks I’m a newbie😅
@SilverLiningDayDreamsАй бұрын
Hello and welcome! What I mean by priming the pump is add water to the pump strainer housing. Priming helps to get the air out by replacing it with water. Hope this helps! Happy swimming!

Do you have to have a skimmer for this pump to work?
@SilverLiningDayDreams2 ай бұрын
I would think so because you have to connect from a pool outlet to the pump. 🪴

We have that exact same pump.both our pump and filter are out of commission. The pump was making a weird noise like the motor is going bad. Of course it is at least 18 years old

Hello! Do you use a vacuum pool hose for the skimmer to the pump?
@SilverLiningDayDreams2 ай бұрын
Ours is a 3’ long with a 1.25” diameter hose. The size of the opening depends on your pool instructions (for example I believe the Intex pump is a 1.5” opening). I believe a vacuum hose would be too long. Cheers!

So at the end, where the water all left the basket, is it supposed to not have water in there all of the the time?

Does the pool pump when leaking drops of water can it trip the GFCI?
@SilverLiningDayDreams3 ай бұрын
Good question! In theory I suppose it could, but we used an outdoor outlet and it has a cover over it so it tends to stay dry. 👍🏻

We bought one a couple months ago and already it won't turn on. I dunno if it's the switch or what. It worked great till today. I finally got it to turn on and then went to flush, turned it off and it won't turn back on again. The on switch clicks when you push it but nothing happens. Is that how yours did when it went bad?
@SilverLiningDayDreams2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. Ours just stopped working. I hope you can get them to replace it for free. Thanks for sharing with us from your experience.

I’m assuming you mean it’s still on but off the threads on one side. If that’s the case; that happened to us one time and We had to muscle twist it in the off direction to get it off. Sorry to say we’re not aware of any hack to get it off easy. Good luck 😊

Do you ground the pump with a ground wire?
@SilverLiningDayDreams2 жыл бұрын
I believe our pump has a standard 3 prong plug that is plugged into a gfci outlet on a dedicated circuit. I assume that makes it grounded. I don’t know much more as this is out of my area of expertise requiring a qualified licensed electrician/pool technician. Take care 😊

How do you get the extra air out since the Hayward doesn’t have an air relief valve?
@SilverLiningDayDreams2 жыл бұрын
I just hooked up hose from pool which allowed some water in and then opened the transparent pool pump lid and added some water. Then I turned the pump on which allowed more water to displace air as it ran over the next 5 minutes 😊
