Ah, Jamie's most abused crossing 😂. Just remember to go to helpthelc.org and helpthelcbarriersfromidiotswhodonotwait.org

That is nice of them to make a bridge so people can cross even when there is a train

Record for this crossing: NO MISUSE! Great catch; I'd bet that's rare 😉😂
@SouthEastLevelCrossings5 жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, non-misuse closures do happen here. The only time I've ever seen the barriers stop here was the first time I ever came here in July 2018, but wasn't filming, although I have seen quite a few people cross with the red lights flashing in visits and videos here 🙄

Let's face it: the footbridge has a lot to do with it.

Amazing to see how many are too lazy to that little bridge!

Why do these gates come down so early, and why do they take so long to clear? Regardless of the alternative crossing, this level crossing can surely be adjusted better. A gate should come down no more than 30 seconds before the train, and it should clear immediately, unless another train is coming within 30 seconds.
@SouthEastLevelCrossings Жыл бұрын
It's all to be 'fail safe', and to ensure the crossing can be proven clear (giving a train a green signal ideally) in plenty of time before it arrives. Automatic crossings not fully connected with signals will be closed for far less time.

@@SouthEastLevelCrossings - I understand that. But the crossing by my house works that way -- down 30 seconds before the train. Plus the gate has a visual signal on it so the operators know the gate is down in advance. More importantly, the Poole High Street crossing is next to very tight curve, about 15 degrees of curvature, based on the map I consulted. Even a train that doesn't stop in Poole won't be going more than 30 MPH, passenger or freight. So the gate is going down too early. However, the pedestrian bridge is quaint, for sure.

That's changed since April too as I can't remember it sounding like that either. Nice 🙂
@SouthEastLevelCrossings5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! 👍😊 It definitely sounds different than what it did when you were there in April - in fact, it sounded pretty much the same when I was here in February when you were there.
