Thanks for all the stats. It’s ironic that so many love their parkrun stats and yet the organisation has removed so many stats.

As an older parkrunner I get all warm and fuzzy over age grading. It's very motivating to see yourself up there near the top of the table despite being disappointed with your time. We shouldn't look back at what we had but work towards contentment with what we have.

87.97% age grade!! Fantastic effort. Parkrun says "Above 90% World Class Level Above 80% National Class Level"

Thanks. Yes, we're always striving for high age groups levels. It gives us something to keep working at. 😁

I'm a big fan of AG%. It's a big motivator. I miss the leagues and hope it doesn't get dropped completely. Personally I've never been interested in the challenges, I'm aware they exist, but don't pay much attention or chase anything. A friend of mine broke the AG% course record at Exeter Riverside on Saturday with 100.90%. It was their 429th event. It's a shame such feats go largely unnoticed these days, she didn't even get a mention in the event report.

Yeah we've seen some individual parkruns continue to curate their own records and celebrate such achievements. But it's no longer the norm. Parkrun is discriminating particularly against older runners who get extra pleasure from the age records. No the challenges don't really change our behaviour. We go to a parkrun because we want to be in that place. Certainly wouldn't pile into an Event 777 to fill a spreadsheet 😀

Oh ok, did Poole parkrun a couple of weeks ago. Probably one of the more interesting ones. Wherever stats or records are taken away, maybe app developers can fill the void? If enough of us suggest that as an idea for new functionality

@tworunningbrooms Yep agree. I'm not sure that Age Graded or Course records were that off-putting for people just jogging or walking a parkrun. Those people probably didn't take much notice of it anyway.

@@outerheaven8797 yep we know it was so parkrun suits could swerve the gender issue.
@outerheaven87974 ай бұрын
@tworunningbrooms Should have just introduced a new gender category, Non Binary, so if they're trying to be inclusive, participants who don't identify as 1 of 2 genders can select that at sign up.

Wow that’s a lot of park runners over 2000 people haha 😮 & over 800 in the one you ran, wish they would bring back the old stats, my first park run I ever did was only a few years ago in the 55-59 age group I got 4th fastest ever in my age group for Palmerston North park run, can’t show off now all the states are gone, 😀
