These people get enough of our tax money in foreign aid. They should be focusing on working.

@@MikeIr-q3h it's the truth though. Until you live in a poorer nation, especially those affected by climate change, you won't understand. The issues western people believe are issues are first world problems. Poor countries would be happy to have those problems. They have real stuff to worry about. Like hurricanes and typhoons that decimate 90% of their country annually. But fear not, the IMF and world bank are happy to give them high interest loans to build back. And the west will put them under sanctions for closer relations with China and Russia. But hey, they're flying private when they can't afford a hospital in their country. Give me a break

@@MikeIr-q3h BBC report at 16:55 UK time: "As we mentioned in our last post, two-thirds of countries signed up to the UN climate convention need to be present for decisions to be made. This is known as the “quorum”. It has become a particularly pressing issue now that the group of small island nations known as AOSIS has walked out of the talks in protest. And some countries will have to go home soon. These conferences often come at great financial cost to poorer nations, so some may be unable to change their flights. Remember the conference was meant to finish yesterday. So eventually there’ll come a point where there aren’t enough countries left to reach a deal. That is why time is running out."

This $300 billion is for more than 151 developing nations. What a joke! Might as well throw it in a dustbin.

Exactly, everybody knows that running water and universal schooling is just a subjective measurement of poverty.

@@ATHLDN You mean like the Gaza genocide and Putin's invasion of Ukraine? Yeah, these are downers absorbing US tax money which could be used to offset the climate harm US has done over the decades.

I can understand the walkout. An opaque process without a communicated basis of estimate, without hearing from the most affected countries, is simply not acceptable. It's not possible to evaluate the offer on the table against the need of many countries (possibly for centuries, since that is the persistence of CO2), without performing those essential steps.

I remember the 70's, at junior school we knitted woollen squares to make into blankets. We left school, got jobs and donated to Oxfam etc, in the 80's we helped Bob Geldof 'feed the world', the blaming and begging goes on and on, now they want more.....the ever outstretched brown hand and open mouth, NO MORE. They need to sort themselves out, stand on their own feet, we have done enough.

You need to check history and check yourself! Rich nations, particularly in the West, became that way by enslaving people groups and colonialism (ie enslaving entire nations) so they could steal their natural resources. They then went through an Industrial Revolution that polluted the planet and continues to do so. In addition, they set up a financial system whereby they “help” poorer nations to develop. This actually means that developing nations pay back more via loan repayments than they have ever received in aid (anyone who has taken out a loan or a mortgage understands this). Now, they have pledged a certain amount of money but >70% of it will be in the form of loans rather than direct aid. The system has been rigged for the rich to get richer, even though it’s the poorest affected most by their actions in regard to the climate! Of course you only see the begging and your magnanimous efforts!!! What a sanctimonious ignoramus 🙄🤮
