Probably the best musical performance I've ever seen on this or any other platform. Priceless. Especially love how the band are dressed as successful resistant forces to American Imperialism.

I saw the gig at plan k..they were like..the clash..more funky..agressive..awesome..and they are back ..cant wait for the belgian gig..get y..if u dont know them..very original..one of the best bands ever

These are The Pop Group, as it says on the tin. Active from '78 through '81. Morphed into Rip Rig & Panic, Maximum Joy and solo Mark Stewart. Mark is still out there performing, and there is a reformed Pop Group. Suggest Googling, or Facebook.

It’s amazing how much they were influenced by Micheal Jackson.Typical Hipsters. Loved this band and Mark Stewart ( PIR)…since coming across them in the early 80’s

Not exactly, as Peter Hook had similar facial hair. However, I'd like to think that this clip inspired Mike Watt to dress up like Fidel Castro for the back cover photo of the Minutemen's "Three-Way Tie For Last."

Thanks for the upload. We do know The Pop Group was a main influence for Rema-Rema, Mass and The Wolfgang Press. Right? But perhaps this track was more than an influence/inspiration for Wolfgang Press' track "Shut That Door" (last track on the album "Bird Wood Cage", 1988). Hahahahahaha... Sooooo funny...

@@rockingoat Bez from Happy Mondays man - they had a "guy in the band just dancing/doing nothing" miles before Bez lol Though you could argue that bands like Chumbawumba, Subhumans and Crass had like 20 people just standing around on stage hahah. I digress.

En fait je me demande: dans l'histoire du rock, d'où ça vient ce rôle de danceur libre ? Je me souviens surtout des Happy Mondays au début des années 90's, y'avait un danceur de ce type, c'est le premier dont je me souvienne (et pas de son nom, sorry!). Visiblement, 10 ans auparavant, The Pop Group avait ce type de personnage...

Yes the presenter is speaking French. This is Belgian TV which is broadcast in French. The two languages of Brussels are French and Flemish. With English a close third. Most main TV is spoken in French, the main language of the capitol city.

Belgian Television has Flemish (Dutch speaking) channels, and Walloon (French speaking) ones . This is from RTBF (Radio, Television Belge Francophone), so the French speaking half.

+termsofusepolice The military I surmise but none the less the Clash were 1st but not really their army look came in '82 towards Combat Rock which had its fair share of armyish looks sounds with cluttered white funk RB. TPG had this right here in '80. Roxy M did military style some 6 years earlier.
