Great video! I'm embarrassed to admit that I have had a Fleetwood Niagara for over 12 years and have never used the water heater, mostly due to just being intimidated by the whole operation. After watching your videos, I'm going to go for it this summer, which will sadly probably be our last with the camper as it's about time to sell it. Better late than never.

My sister-in-law just bought a used Jayco which I think is identical to this one. Pretty close, anyway. There's little doubt that I'll be maintaining it for her. Today we'll be checking the operation of the various appliances. I'm the sort who will be able to figure out the things you just showed me. But I might not be very, very quick about it. You've just familiarized me enough with the water heater that it'll be a snap. Thanks. This is helpful stuff.

Excellent explanation. Now I more fully understand. The most frustrating thing has been trying to light the pilot in the wind. I bought a USB rechargeable electric lighter. Now it’s much easier.

You have such a great site . You show a lot of the basics that are basic to you but very good to know as a average camper. I boondocked for the first time this week and though I missed my AC,,, Your videos on installing the 12 volt phone chargers saved my butt :) And the fridge worked great on Propane .. Another thing you taught me

Another great vid. When we are going off-grid I fill our hot water heater, and bleed air from all the lines using city water connection. We then fill our on board water tank 3/4 full, ( keeps us from losing water through the overflow when going off road). We heat water for washing dishes, or whatever outside and wash in a collapsible basin. I agree with shutting off water heater when not in use, and we close valve on propane tank when not in use. Thank you for sharing. Hope to see you out there.

Thanks so much! Very informative. I'm a little skittish when it comes to using appliances new to me that require a pilot light. A stove I can handle; a hot water heater...um...not so much. So thanks for this video.

Think it was this video. You can install boiler drain valve with flex line in place of the drain plug. This allows no mess draining of the tank.

I Appreciate all your videos since I'm new to this pop up camping.. Question.. I've filled my holding tank with water but am not getting any water to the sink after having the pump on for a while. How long should it take to get water to the sink? When I first turn on the pump does it first fill the water heater before sending any water to the sink? TIA..

Thank you! Gonna try this next time I'm useing my jayco pop up! Do you know what cover you use for weather? Mine seems to get water in it and in need of a good cover.

I think my water bursted on the valve I’ll need to remove it to find out, in the mean time. Do you think it will be ok if I run the heat. With the water heater being down. PS your videos are amazing.

Heating water for dishwashing is mostly what our water heater is used for.

I turned on the propane in my pop up, I lit the stove, then I lit the pilot light for my water heater. I waited about 20 minutes and ran my shower to see if it was heating, the water didn't even seem warm. Is there some way that the water might not be going into the water heater. We have water in our onboard tank and we were connected to city water. I guess I can wait a little longer, but this water wasn't even remotely warm, and this was only about a week ago, and I'm in southern California, so it was 65 degrees outside. Did I miss a step, or is there a water cutoff that I might have missed? I have a 2006 Starcraft Centennial 3608.

The water heater is most likely bypassed. Check the backside of the water heater for those valves.

We downsized from a 5th wheel to a popup and I forgot that the popup water heater is gas only. I wonder if I could replace my gas only water heater with one that runs on park electricity also.

Yeah, I'm sure you could

@@ItsPoppin I've seen calrod heaters that install in place of the anode rod and allow you to heat water with electricity.

We have hot and cold water valves under the bench where are hot water tank is. 2007 FR Rockwood Freedom 2318G. When do we open and close those? My most likely scenario will be connected to water course on site.
@ItsPoppin2 жыл бұрын
My guess is that these are low point drains for draining the water heater. Do they go through the floor of the pop up? If so they’re definitely low point drains. Keep them closed unless you want to drain your water heater.

Hi! Thx so much for all the info you provide, love your channel! I have a quick newbie Q. We have a 2005 Flagstaff 205, Forest River. Taking her out 1st time (new to us). Which comes first (if it matters) when lighting the water heater & fridge on propane? Does it matter at all? Thanks a million in advance!

Can I pre-fill my hot water tank to avoid running the pump unnecessarily and eating up battery power.

Yeah, you'll just have to carry that weight to your camping spot.

Should the electric be plugged in before or will the water heater still work?
@ItsPoppin2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the water heater - some are propane only and some can run off either propane or electric with an electric ignition.

Do you know where to get a new canvas for pop up campers? My boyfriend and I just bought one and it needs a new one
@ItsPoppin3 жыл бұрын
There's a handful of places that do it. Off the top of my head, I've heard good things about bear creek canvas and I think there is a place called pop up canvas that does them as well.
