Hey pop up family, we now have another video on winterization that does not require the use of an air compressor! Check it out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/roOsdIRon9qrqKs

I guess I'm confused like others here on this video. Why did you put antifreeze in your holding tank and not draw it through the lines and out the faucets, what does it do just sit in the holding tank? Secondly, do you not have an outdoor shower on your pup? Most of us do I believe.
@ethanperry5431 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I was confused too. I ran my pump with the antifreeze through my system. If you don't I don't see the point of it just sitting in the tank as you said.
@devon84798 күн бұрын
He turned on the water pump to draw the antifreeze into it

Hi, nice video. I also was a bit confused after you put antifreeze in your potable tank, but then you blew out the lines with the low point drains open. Can you explain why the antifreeze doesn't drain out?
@ItsPoppin3 жыл бұрын
The order of operations are important. The lines were first blown out and then antifreeze was added to winterize the water pump.
@benparsons82043 жыл бұрын
@@ItsPoppin the video doesnt show them in that order. That's why he's confused. And so was I after watching the video.
@karena59142 жыл бұрын
Agree. He blew out the line, added the antifreeze and then blew out the line again.

Does the air blow out clear the water pump as well. Thanks. Dan

Our camper was missing the slide out braces for the front (long) section. Any ideas where to get replacements?!

I'm not sure why they recommend adding RV antifreeze if the lines have been blown out and do not contain water. An empty hose will not burst, though I've seen pink RV antifreeze freeze solid. I'd also think the RV antifreeze, which I believe contains citric acid, would attract mice. This is my first winterization so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the video!
@ItsPoppin3 жыл бұрын
Musts for the RV antifreeze include the water pump and any P traps, which of course, cannot be blown out. I suppose you could empty the P traps by unscrewing them, but that sounds like too much hassle - lol!
@brandonb.93343 жыл бұрын
@@ItsPoppin Leaf blower. mic drop :) Worked like a charm. But p-traps aren't pressurized so water/ice won't do any damage. The reason we clear our water lines/pumps/plumbing is so the water doesn't break the pressured pipe/system as it expands into ice. I've seen pink antifreeze from autozone turn to ice in northern Indiana. Not just slush either, but rock-solid ice. It could've been a bad batch however. Great videos, I hope to watch more.

Thanks for all your videos! They’ve been so helpful. Any chance you would mind showing exactly where you put steel wool in your camper? Feeling paranoid we will miss something and the pop up will get wrecked by mice.
@ItsPoppin3 жыл бұрын
I hate to say it, but it depends on the pop up. Big areas to check include the furnace exhaust, the 30 amp electrical cord door, or really anywhere they could squeeze in.
@bonniepyperraymond64453 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much!

Why do you use the antifreeze if you have blown out the lines with an air compressor? Wouldn't it be better to leave that chemical out of your system? And how do you get all that antifreeze out when summer comes?
@ItsPoppin3 жыл бұрын
Because you cannot blow out the water pump and it needs to be winterized as well. Also, watch this vid: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5qwd52tl6iUi80

Question - Do you leave the water pump on while doing the "blow out" step? It wasn't clear as to if that stays on for that or turns off.
@ItsPoppin3 жыл бұрын
It should be off.

My pop up (starcratft galaxy) doesn't have a bypass setup on the water heater. I can just undo the connectors I guess and then blow out the system?
@ItsPoppin2 жыл бұрын
I don’t believe that will work because the water system needs to pressurize to use the blow out method.
@larryroedl3952 жыл бұрын
Do you just keep the anti freeze in the fresh water tank if you can’t put it directly into the pump
@ItsPoppin2 жыл бұрын
Yep, the alternative would be to disconnect the line between the fresh water tank and the pump and insert that into the antifreeze bottle. Too much work in my opinion.
@larryroedl3952 жыл бұрын
@@ItsPoppin okay this is our first pop up and it just seemed to simple
@gijimbo13375 күн бұрын
@@ItsPoppinYeah, it depends on access. It's easier on mine to pull the line and run a spare hose into the bottle. If I used the tank, I'd need half a dozen gallons of anti-freeze. This way I only need just enough to fill the pump.
@79Rybred3 жыл бұрын
Can this be done without an air compressor?
@ItsPoppin3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you just need to run antifreeze through all of the lines instead of blowing then out.

Very helpful video. We camp as much winterized as we do not. There’s no season end for us 😁 Our camper doesn’t have a bathroom, and we don’t use our hot water heater, so I’m considering leaving it winterized next year

What other things do you do to get your camper ready for winter? We don't use our water.

Things like making sure your battery stays charged, cleaning and sealing so mice don't get in, blocking up your tires, things like that.
